Navico Mourns Passing of Darrell Lowrance

Navico, parent company to the Lowrance, Simrad, B&G and C-MAP brands, announced today the passing of Darrell J. Lowrance, founder of its Lowrance brand.Darrell served as President and CEO of Lowrance Electronics from 1964 to 2006, and was responsible for many breakthroughs in marine electronics. In addition to the first recreational sonar product for anglers – the Fish-Lo-K-Tor (also known as the “Little Green Box”) – he led the development of the first graph recorder, the first integrated sonar/GPS unit, and many others.

Navico Acquires Naviop

Marine electronics manufacturer Navico, parent company to the Lowrance, Simrad and B&G brands, announced it has finalized an agreement to acquire marine monitoring and control systems provider Naviop. B&G Updates Chartplotters with Weather Services

B&G, a sailing navigation and instrument specialist, has announced new software updates that will bring PredictWind weather services direct to Zeus and Vulcan chartplotter range. The online forecasting service provides the latest weather and sailing information to sailors all around the world. The software update will enable sailors with PredictWind accounts to plan routes in seconds using PredictWind data such as wind, swell, rain, cloud, isobar and air temperature information directly on a B&G chartplotter.

B&G Gives Racers New Startline Functionality

Sailing navigation and instrument specialist B&G announced its latest software update for the Zeus2 series of multifunctional displays (MFD) and Glass Helm systems. The software update introduces a new Race Panel menu screen to the Zeus2 display, offering easy access to a selection of powerful sail racing features. Simrad Brings a New Dimension to Soanar

Simrad announced the December 2015 launch of StructureScan 3D, which gives boaters and fishermen a unique three-dimensional underwater view of the ocean floor, its structures and fish suspended in the water. Simrad StructureScan 3D allows boaters to see fish, underwater structure and bottom contours in a three-dimensional display on the NSS and NSO evo2 navigational systems. StructureScan 3D imaging quickly scans underwater terrain to create high-resolution, 180-degree super-wide, three-dimensional views – in depths to 300 feet and as far as 600 feet port and starboard.

Lowrance Updates Software for HDS Displays

Lowrance released new software updates for its Lowrance High Definition System (HDS) Gen2 Touch and HDS Gen3 multifunction displays. The newest releases are version 4.5 for HDS Gen2 Touch and version 2.0 for the HDS Gen3. They provide users with features including Outboard Pilot control, C-MAP MAX-N+ 2015 compatibility and Power-Pole integration.
