Canadian Electric Boat Company, Torqeedo Power New Rental Fleet
Canadian Electric Boat Company and Torqeedo has announced that Canada’s electric boat rental fleet will expand by 27 vessels to serve the new Route de Champlain. Canadian Electric Boat Company (CEBC) will build the vessels powered by emission-free Torqeedo motors.The Route de Champlain is a designated tourist route which allows visitors a new way to discover the beauty of Canada’s waterways. Starting in 2018, visitors will navigate a path closely aligned to renowned explorer Samuel de Champlain’s historic journey via kayak, canoe or electric boat.

Russians to Acquire Fairline Boats
Crisis-hit yacht manufacturer Fairline Boats has been saved after the firm was bought by two Russian investors. A new company, Fairline Acquisitions, funded by two UK-based Russian investors with a background in the marine sector, is to take on the failed company’s order book and initially plans to recruit around 100 of the 380 staff who were made redundant before Christmas. It will be run by Russell Currie, who has been a Fairline dealer for 18 years where he has made sales of more than £90 million. Brunswick CEO Presents Safety Award to Boston Whaler
Boston Whaler’s Edgewater facility was awarded the Chairman’s Safety Award conducted by parent company Brunswick Corporation. During a ceremony held on June 4, Brunswick Chairman & CEO Dustin McCoy presented Whaler’s safety committee with the award, and Boston Whaler announced that it would donate the prize money received in conjunction with the award to local charity Cudas Unhooked. In his opening remarks, Boston Whaler President Huw Bower addressed the crowd of assembled employees, who were joined by Brunswick executives and members of the press.

Ashland just released Aropol NLN 71800 INF infusion resins and Maxguard NCP Jet Black gelcoat. The line of Aropol marine resins ensures Ashland can offer the formulation to optimize boat-building operations. CMI Acquires SLP Vinyl Sheet Pile Business
Crane Materials International (CMI) announced the acquisition of Shoreline Plastics (SLP) vinyl sheet pile business including all related assets and intellectual property. CMI is a global company headquartered in Atlanta, Ga., with manufacturing facilities in Georgia and Florida. The company manufactures and fabricates high-quality vinyl, fiber-reinforced polymer and aluminum sheet piling, aluminum pedestrian bridges and marine docks. SLP, a vinyl sheet pile business based in Jacksonville, Fla., produces PVC pipe and other extruded PVC materials.
AdvanTec Consolidates PCM Manufacturing
AdvanTec Global Innovations has announced it will consolidate its Pacific Coast Marine (PCM) manufacturing operations into other AdvanTec manufacturing facilities in the United States and Canada, effective July 31, 2014. "This move will expand PCM’s product capabilities," said AdvanTec CEO Paul Hill. PCM will continue to operate its sales and service hub out of the Greater Seattle Area. The PCM sales and service office remaining in the Seattle area will be managed by AdvanTec's Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing Darren Loken."This evolution will help make our entire marine group more efficient," Loken said.
Whale Water Systems Announces Acquistion of Seaward Products
Vermont based Whale Water Systems has completed an agreement to take over production, distribution and servicing of the complete Seaward Products line including the Princess brand. The deal was completed just before the opening of IBEX marine trade show in Louisville and the new brand – Seaward by Whale – will officially launch at the show. Whale already provides a wide range of fresh water, bilge and gray waste management systems and now have more to offer with the addition of the Seaward range of water heaters, ovens, cooktops BBQs, electrical panels, tanks and accessories.
