Nobiskrug Inks Deal to Build Superyacht “Black Shark”
Her striking design makes “Black Shark” one of the most interesting superyacht projects at present. Nobiskrug and the owner have signed the contract for the continued construction of the vessel (new build project 793). With the third order since the economic restart the Rendsburg shipyard stays on its successful course since the takeover by Tennor Group. Perfect weather for Miami Yacht Show
While Wednesday was quite blustery and rainy, the Miami Yacht Show opened to clear skies on Valentine’s Day, for a gorgeous weekend of luxury boats and sun. In its new location, crowds seemed smaller, although lines for Uber frustrated some commuting by car from the Miami Boat Show on Virginia Key to the Miami Yacht Show’s two locations on Watson Island and One Herald Plaza. Eastern's Columbia on Display in Fort Lauderdale
Eastern Shipbuilding Group’s reengineered Columbia, built from the original design plans of the classic 1923 Essex-built schooner, will be on display at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, October 30-November 3, 2014. The original Columbia, a 141’ classic Gloucester Fishing Schooner designed by William Starling Burgess, built at the historic A.D. Story shipyard of Essex, Massachusetts and launched April 17, 1923, was bred for speed, challenging – and nearly defeating – Canada’s legendary Bluenose schooner in the International Fishermen’s Cup Races in Halifax.

Nelson Joins IMS American Marine Electronics
IMS American Marine Electronics (IMS) has announced the appointment of Nils Nelson as the company’s new director of sales. Nils brings over 25 years of domestic and international marine experience, including marine electronics sales and distribution, wholesale and retail marine product development, application engineering and project management. A third-generation maritime professional and licensed captain, Nils has extensive knowledge of marine systems for vessels ranging from sportfishermen to megayachts to commercial vessels.
Front Street Shipyard to Build Setzer-Design Superyachts
Maine's Front Street Shipyard say they are working with Setzer Yacht Architects to develop design documentation for a new motoryacht series. Featuring four new designs from 28 to 40 meters, the series is an offshoot from Setzer’s broader 2014 portfolio of “New American Motoryachts”. Included in the series is a 28-meter “Modern Commuter,” a 34-meter “Flushdeck RPH,” a 38-meter “Modern Explorer,” and a 40-meter “Vintage Tri-Deck.” These yachts will be actively marketed for construction at Front Street Shipyard.

Alphatron Delivers Comprehensive Electronics Package
With the christening of the new pilot station vessel Polaris Alphatron Marine of Rotterdam has completed the design, installation and commissioning of one of the most comprehensive deliveries since its founding in 1991. In close cooperation with Fysergo, a Dutch company specialised in ergonomic workspace design, an Alphabridge wheelhouse concept was designed in order to comply with the severe demands of the Dutch pilots association in regards to sitting and standing vessel operations. A special workspace for the pilots was also included in the total bridge concept.
