John Deere Rolls Out Trio of Marine Engines

John Deere Power Systems has expanded its lineup with three new marine engines available for order from early 2018. The new 4.5L PowerTech 4045SFM85 offers high power to weight ratio for repowering and new vessel construction, and is ideal for planing and semi-displacement hulls, the manufacturer said. It has two ratings for light-duty commercial vessels, high-speed governmental applications and high-speed pleasure craft, which includes an M4 rating with 205 kW (275 hp) at 2,600 rpm and M5 rating with 235 kW (315 hp) at 2,800 rpm. A consortium of organizations are working toward a landmark achievement in the maritime sectors: creating the world's first class-approved 3D-printed ship's propeller. Polar Expedition Vessel to be Built in Croatia

Bureau Veritas (BV) is to class a new concept luxury expedition cruise vessel to be built for Australia’s Scenic group. The 165m vessel will be built at Croatia’s Uljanik shipyard for delivery in summer 2018. It will have lower berth accommodation for 228 passengers and 172 crew and will meet the requirements of the newly adopted Polar Code allowing operation for a certain period of the year in Polar waters. Particular attention has been paid to safety, meeting the Safe Return to Port criteria, and to comfort for the whole accommodation, based on BV Comfort Class criteria.

New Water Rules Impact Super Yachts

The introduction of new wastewater treatment technologies and regulations will have an impact on the operation of super yachts with more than 12 passengers, especially those embarking on expedition type cruises, according to ACO Marine managing director Mark Beavis. The amendment changes current rules governing the performance of onboard water treatment plant. From 1 January 2016, the nitrogen content of the discharged effluent must be less than 20mg/l while phosphorous content cannot exceed 1mg/l.

AER to Highlight Hella LED Products

AER Supply, an international distributor of marine products, is showcasing a full range of LED lighting products for the commercial marine industry at the 2013 WorkBoat Show. AER was recently named as a distributor for the Hella line of commercial marine LED lighting solutions. Severn Trent De Nora Secures New Order for its Mariner Omnipure

Electrolytic disinfection technology to be used on luxury yacht. Severn Trent De Nora has announced  that the Mariner Omnipure  marine sewage treatment system M5508 model will be used on the FY17, a new luxury superyacht to be constructed by Fitzroy Yachts of New Zealand for delivery in 2014. The FY17 is a fast cruising sloop that measures 37.5m in overall length. The order was secured through HMA-POGC of Australia, a supplier of industrial equipment to the water and waste, oil, gas and other industries.
