Lumitec, an engineering and design firm focused on the conceptualization, development and manufacture of high-quality extreme environment LED lighting, today launched its innovation boat, Progression.

Showcasing new concepts, experiments and cutting-edge technologies, Progression represents a new level of lighting control and on-board system integration. The Lumitec Innovation Boat made its official debut earlier this month at the 2015 Miami International Boat Show.

Spearheaded by Lumitec with cooperation from several industry partners, Progression was constructed by Intrepid Powerboats around their 375 center console platform. The state-of-the-art boat is the first ever to showcase Lumitec’s experimental Power Line Instruction (PLI) technology, which allows users to address and control individual lights on the same circuit with no additional control wires. On-board lighting and other DC loads are seamlessly integrated with BEP’s CZone digital control and monitoring network. This network leverages Mastervolt’s lithium-ion battery packs and intelligent power management technologies, and presents full vessel monitoring and control to the user through twin Garmin 15-inch touch screen displays.

Propulsion and control are provided by triple Yamaha 300 engines with Command Link Plus electronic controls, Y-COP theft deterrent and SeaStar Optimus EPS fly-by-wire steering. The Innovation Boat also features the NT2.0 security system from GOST, complete with surveillance cameras, satellite tracking and a host of additional security sensors. Lumitec engineers went on to design a power actuated folding tower with full controls, fabricated by Bluewater towers and enabled largely by the network connectivity and fly-by-wire technologies of the engines and steering systems. The professionals at MDI (Marine Digital Integrators) helped to integrate virtually all on board systems – even for those such as windlass, trim tabs, and thrusters – for a truly intuitive ‘glass helm’ user experience.

“In launching Progression, the Lumitec Innovation Boat, we are doing more than simply unveiling a powerful lighting control technology or demonstrating an assemblage of cool on-board features,” said John Kujawa, president, Lumitec. “Progression is really about pushing ourselves for greater levels of innovation, integration, ease of use and overall boater enjoyment. The project was a fun one for those of us who worked on it and we hope that it will become a platform for continued discussion, inspiration, and experimentation for the industry as a whole.”
