Torqeedo Opens New HQ and Production Facilities

Marine electric drives manufacturer Torqeedo GmbH celebrated the grand opening of a brand-new 8,300 m2 building near Munich where all company activities, including research, development, and production, will now take place.Fabian Bez, Torqeedo's chief executive officer, said, Whether by road, rail, air or water, sustainable forms of propulsion are needed to achieve the climate targets. In the transport sector, in particular, there is still a lot to be done. As Torqeedo, we recognized this trend early on and developed battery-electric drives for watercraft.

Torqeedo Breaks Ground on New HQ

Electric drives manufacturer  announced it has broken ground on its new headquarters and production facilities in the Munich metro area on Wednesday.Construction is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2022, and the site will consist of 3,720 square meters of office space, with a mix of co-working spaces and on-site offices, 4,800 square meters of warehouse, production, and research and development area.Dr. Ralf Plieninger, managing director of Torqeedo, said, "The new facilities will allow direct contact and exchange between various departments.

Canadian Electric Boat Company, Torqeedo Power New Rental Fleet

Canadian Electric Boat Company and Torqeedo has announced that Canada’s electric boat rental fleet will expand by 27 vessels to serve the new Route de Champlain. Canadian Electric Boat Company (CEBC) will build the vessels powered by emission-free Torqeedo motors.The Route de Champlain is a designated tourist route which allows visitors a new way to discover the beauty of Canada’s waterways. Starting in 2018, visitors will navigate a path closely aligned to renowned explorer Samuel de Champlain’s historic journey via kayak, canoe or electric boat.

Torqeedo Names Glück Marketing VP

Electric and hybrid drives manufacturer Torqeedo has appointed Oliver Glück as its new vice president marketing.Prior to joining Torqeedo, Glück was head of marketing communication and brand strategy for Hyundai Motor Europe. His experience includes in-house positions at automotive companies and consulting for several automotive brands. He worked for Fiat Auto, BBDO Worldwide, Millhaus, and Allianz Global Automotive, among others. He holds a degree in marketing, innovation management and advertising psychology from Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich.

Deutz Aims for Hybrid, Electric Engines by 2020

Specialty diesel engine maker Deutz aims to expand its business to include hybrid and battery-powered engines from 2020, banking on an expected boom in demand for electric vehicles. "In future, we no longer want to operate just as a pure diesel group," Chief Executive Frank Hiller told Reuters on Thursday, a day after the group acquired electric drive specialist Torqeedo. The takeover has swallowed most of the 100 million euros ($118 million) in investments allocated to the new push, Hiller said, adding he expected the new products to account for 5-10 percent of group sales within five years.

Independent engine manufacturer DEUTZ announced it has acquired Torqeedo, provider of electric drive systems for watercraft. As an independent subsidiary of DEUTZ AG, Torqeedo will continue product development under its established Torqeedo brand and with its current leadership. Torqeedo Opens Bangkok Office

Torqeedo said it has opened a new office in Bangkok, Thailand, to accommodate its rapid growth in Asia and the Pacific (APAC) region. The company reports an expanding focus on marine preservation, sustainable tourism, ecofishing and the electrification of commercial vessels have created a strong interest in its products by both public and private entities within the region. APAC also shows increasing investment in sustainable public transportation initiatives, a sector which continues to drive Torqeedo’s expansion into commercial markets.
