Suntex Marinas Acquires Faro Blanco in Marathon in the Florida Keys

Marina owner and operator Suntex Marina Investors, LLC announced today its first acquisition within its new partnership with Centerbridge Capital and Resilient Capital Partners: the Faro Blanco Marina located in Marathon in the Florida Keys.Faro Blanco is a first-class marina that offers safety, privacy, entertainment, activities, parking, convenient fuel and pump out services, dockside hookups and a resort-owned restaurant facing the marina, all in a setting with magnificent sunsets and expansive views. Suntex Acquires Hurricane Marina

Suntex Marina Investors, LLC (Suntex) announced the acquisition of Hurricane Marina, located on Center Hill Lake in Silver Point, Tennessee. With the change in ownership, Hurricane Marina received a new 25-year lease with the United States Army Corps of Engineers and also extended the lease of the existing restaurant tenant, Blue Water Grille. Hurricane Marina lies on a natural, protected harbor approximately 70 miles east of Nashville, and consists of 600 wet slips (48 of which were built in 2015), 40 personal watercraft slips and 25 enclosed boathouse slips.

The Association of Marina Industries (AMI) elected its 2017 officers and directors at its annual International Marina & Boatyard Conference (IMBC) held January 25-27, 2017 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Brad Gross, Certified Marina Manager (CMM) was reappointed Chair; Joe Riley, CMM of Windmill Marina Association, Inc. was reappointed Vice Chair; Chris Petty of Suntex Waterfront Management was reappointed Treasurer; and Chris Dolan of Marina Electrical Equipment, Inc. was appointed Secretary. This year, AMI welcomes one new member elected to the 2017 Board of Directors for a three-year term, Jason Johnson of Marine Travelift, Inc.

Suntex Marinas Acquires Kentucky Location

Suntex Marina Investors LLC (Suntex), an owner and operator of marina properties, announced today the acquisition of Wolf Creek Marina on Lake Cumberland, Kentucky. The purchase comes on the heels of the recent addition of State Dock Marina, also on Lake Cumberland, to the Suntex portfolio. With the change in ownership, Wolf Creek will see exciting reinvestments in the coming months, including new dock construction and additional merchandise offerings within their marine store. “It is an exciting time for the Suntex brand,” said Chris Petty, head of operations of Suntex Marinas.

Solar-powered Canoe Travels the Entire Mississippi

After a long journey that started in 2012, the CalypSol crew reached Baton Rouge, Louisiana at 3:25 pm on June 11, completing 1,100 miles to become the first solar powered canoe voyage down the Mississippi. This was the third and longest segment of the trip that took Raymond Christe and Jean-Claude Barras from Memphis, Tennessee to Baton Rouge. A Torqeedo Travel 503 electric outboard helped power their long-distance expedition. For the last leg, they launched their craft at the Mud Island Marina in Memphis on May 26.

TowBoatUS Chickamauga Lake Named Tower of the Year

An on the water towboat company that helps Tennessee boaters get safely home was singled out for its professionalism at the BoatUS Towing Services Annual Conference in Clearwater Beach, Florida. Tower of the Year honors went to TowBoatUS Chickamauga Lake, which is owned and operated by Captain Shane O’Neil and his wife, Stacey O’Neil. The company has a total of eight locations in Tennessee, Alabama and Florida and was singled out for its near-perfect towing dispatch operation, superior customer service and satisfaction, and ongoing towing case management.

C&C Yachts Adds New Dealer

C&C Yachts announced that Karma Yacht Sales (KYS), based in Chicago, will be the newest addition to their growing dealer network. KYS will cover the Western Great Lakes region including the states of Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri and Tennessee.
