New Company: Lehmann Marine Offers COBRA Battery System

With the founding of Lehmann Marine, a subsidiary of Höpen GmbH, a new supplier of innovative maritime products such as the COBRA battery system has entered the maritime market in 2023.The COBRA (Compact Battery Rack) battery system, which is freely scalable and tailored to maritime requirements, has several references in the shipping industry for the hybridization or electrification of vessels. Initially developed by Becker Marine Systems, COBRA has now been incorporated into Lehmann Marine, which was founded on January 1, 2023.

Sailing Ahead at Lerwick!

Yachts competing in the annual Bergen-Shetland Race will arrive in Lerwick Harbour next week for the highlight of the port’s yachting season. Thirty competitors are expected to leave Norway on Wednesday 24 June and start reaching Shetland the following day. First across the line will receive a trophy, sponsored by Lerwick Port Authority, at Friday’s prize-giving at Lerwick Town Hall. Marine Travelift to Deliver 75-ton Boat Hoist to Jolly Harbour Marina

Marine Travelift Inc. announced today that Jolly Harbour Marina in Antigua has purchased one of its new 75 BFM II mobile boat hoists. This 75-ton machine was most recently on display at the Miami International Boat Show in February. Located on Antigua’s leeward side, the Jolly Harbour full-service marina provides 155 new concrete berths, storage for 200 boats, a dedicated cradle yard, and large work area for engine maintenance and repair, yacht painting, carpentry, and duty-free fueling services. Antwerp Port pitches in on "World Toilet Day"

Today, 19 November, is World Toilet Day when attention worldwide focuses on the 2.6 billion people who do not have access to sanitary facilities, and on the 768 million who do not have access to drinkable water. Antwerp Port Authority is eager to contribute towards solving this global problem, and so in collaboration with various Flemish partners it is committed to a project in the African country of Benin. As part of the Millennium Development Goals to provide greater access to drinkable water and sanitation by 2015, Flanders is participating in a number of projects, including one in the region of South Benin.

Port Canaveral to Dedicate New Boat Ramp

The Canaveral Port Authority will officially dedicate the new East Boat Ramp near Jetty Park at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6. The free boat launch facility is larger than the Freddie Patrick Park ramps, which were demolished for construction of new Cruise Terminal 1 in the Cove. The terminal is scheduled to open in November. The new boat ramps are the result of staff collaboration with the boating community. As promised, the complex features 8 slips, 2 pavilions, fish-cleaning tables, restrooms, boat rinse station, paved parking and a grass overflow parking lot. The $4.6 million complex also has accessibility for the disabled.

New Procedures for Guanabara Bay Olympic Sailing Event

Port Authorities at Rio de Janeiro are preparing to introduce new procedures for the upcoming Olympic Sailing event to be held in the south and east side of Guanabara Bay in July and August. Sailing teams from around the world will take part and the Brazilian Olympic Committee expecting over 450 craft will participate. Guanabara Bay will be closed for all type of navigation between 11am up to 5pm for both the first stage (28 July-2 August) and the second stage of the event (2-9 August). - There will be 15 alternative anchorage áreas at the Outer Anchorage. - Local navigation at north side of the bridge shall not be affected.

A Summer Of Sailing At Lerwick Harbor

Lerwick Harbor is set to cast off for a summer of sailing with a series of local and international events attracting several hundred crew, beginning this week with the arrival of entrants in the Round Britain & Ireland Yacht Race.
