BBY Debuts 65-foot Hunt-Designed Sportfish

Brooklin Boat Yard is introducing the design for a modern, cold-molded 65-foot sportfish motoryacht. Designed by C. Raymond Hunt Associates, the new yacht features Hunt's high-performing and stable deep-vee hull. Using Brooklin Boat Yard's wood-composite construction techniques, the sportfish will have serious offshore capabilities. This new sportfish design expands the range of Brooklin Boat Yard's current offerings to larger motoryacht designs. The Brooklin Boat Yard 65-foot sportfish has been designed to be strong and robust, comfortable and dry.

Palmer Johnson Yatchs Shuts Sturgeon Bay, Moves to Europe

Luxury yacht manufacturer Palmer Johnson Yachts is closing its production facilities in Sturgeon Bay because of dwindling sales and competition from overseas. In a plant closing notice filed Wednesday with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, the company said sales had fallen and offshore competition had escalated. The closures will result in the loss of about 100 jobs. Palmer Johnson said it will cooperate with the Department of Workforce Development to help employees find other jobs. The shutdown will take place in phases starting about Oct. 31.
