Brooklin Boat Yard is introducing the design for a modern, cold-molded 65-foot sportfish motoryacht. Designed by C. Raymond Hunt Associates, the new yacht features Hunt's high-performing and stable deep-vee hull. Using Brooklin Boat Yard's wood-composite construction techniques, the sportfish will have serious offshore capabilities. This new sportfish design expands the range of Brooklin Boat Yard's current offerings to larger motoryacht designs.

The Brooklin Boat Yard 65-foot sportfish has been designed to be strong and robust, comfortable and dry. The arrangement is classic sportfish, with accommodations for six in the owner's party plus a crew of two. Aft is a large fighting cockpit overlooked by a mezzanine deck.

Every component of the sportfish - as with every Brooklin Boat Yard yacht - will be vacuum bagged and the composite fabrics will be resin infused, giving them optimum strength-to-weight characteristics. "Our focus is to incorporate the yard's advanced wood composite construction techniques with recent advances in propulsion technology and controls," said Steve White, president of Brooklin Boat Yard. "The structural benefits of wood and high tech composite materials are showcased in every yacht we build. We'd like to extend that to the sportfish community."

The propulsion package is a triple Volvo-Penta IPS IPS1200 drive, delivering total power of 2,700 hp for a cruise speed of 35 knots. These are six-cylinder common-rail injected, turbocharged and intercooled marine diesels with incredible efficiency. There is a long list of user-friendly options available with the Volvo IPS system including: joystick docking, joystick driving, dynamic positioning, Sportfish mode, autopilot, glass cockpit system, trip computer, cruise control, single lever mode, low-speed mode for a true fully integrated bridge experience using flush touch-screens.

For the traditionalist, a conventional propulsion package is available using twin MTU 12V 2000 M92L, common-rail injected, turbocharged and intercooled marine diesels rated at 1,920 hp at 2,450 rpms each, with gears, shafts and propeller struts.

Brooklin Boat Yard is working on the sportfish with C. Raymond Hunt Associates, who have penned successful powerboats from nine feet to over 100 feet in length overall for numerous well-known and respected yacht builders such as Burger, Grady-White, Grand Banks, Hinckley, Lee Wilbur and Palmer Johnson.

Brooklin Boat Yard is seeking owners interested in further customizing the 65-foot sportfish and beginning construction on a new yacht.
