Deep Cycle Marine Battery Designs: Which is Best for Your Boat?
Traditionally, boat owners have relied on deep cycle batteries to power trolling motors. This specialized marine battery type delivers just what the application needs: energy for a low-power load for many hours. Today, deep cycle batteries are also used to power a range of onboard 12-volt electronics (aka a vessel’s “house load”), including navigation lights, fish finders, aerator pumps and much more. These power draws, combined with the trolling motor, place heavy demands on deep cycle batteries.Fortunately…

Navigating Marine Connectivity
The NMEA (National Marine Electronics Association) 2000 standards helped create a framework for safer, more reliable marine communications by streamlining the connectivity of boat engines, navigation, control, power distribution, water, waste and other mechanical and monitoring systems. Onboard connectivity translates into improved operator safety, better diagnostics, simplified maintenance and lower lifetime costs. Manufacturers recognize the value of electronics to distinguish their brand—and satisfy customers seeking connectivity at sea.

Xylem Introduces Jabsco Ballast King
Xylem has introduced the new Jabsco Ballast King wakeboard ballast pump, further expanding its portfolio of recreational marine products. The advanced technologies of the Ballast King bring water into the boat’s multiple bladder tanks, increasing the weight and displacement of the boat to produce a larger wake. It also reverses and empties the tanks so that boats can shed the weight and travel faster when not wakeboarding. The Ballast King is an extended version of Jabsco’s advanced technologies, providing increased flow rates and the capability to add significantly more water per minute.
