Omniyat, Dubai Maritime Break Ground on Seafront Site

Omniyat Group has broken ground on ANWA by Omniyat, a new seafront development that will b visible from the sea in Dubai Maritime City. At the ANWA ground breaking, Dubai Maritime City revealed its new ambitious plan for the marine destination that will have 53 mixed-use projects, hotels, shopping malls, restaurants and 10 fascinating parks. The groundbreaking ceremony was conducted by H E Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman, Dubai Maritime City and Mahdi Amjad, Omniyat Group’s Executive Chairman and CEO, along with other senior officials from Dubai Maritime City and Omniyat Group.

Gulf Craft to Invest $100m in Dubai Shipyard

Dubai Maritime City (DMC), a maritime cluster in Dubai, today announced an agreement with Gulf Craft to invest in a free hold plot located within the marine district of DMC, on an area of approximately 900,000 square feet. According to DMC, Gulf Craft plans to make a $100 million investment in developing this facility over the next five years. It will include a state-of-the-art shipyard to manufacture high-end luxury yachts as well as a service center incorporating cutting-edge, highly specialized technology for the yacht industry.

Drydocks to Provide Utility Solution to Heart of Europe

Drydocks World, service provider to shipping, maritime, offshore, oil, gas and energy sectors, will sign an agreement with Kleindienst Group to provide a complete range of offshore marine and operational management solutions for their The Heart of Europe. The project is comprised of six islands owned by the Group on The World project in Dubai. The Agreement will be signed by His Excellency Khamis Juma Buamim, Drydocks World Chairman and Josef Kleindienst, CEO of Kleindienst Group. Landing Craft Becomes Floating Repair Facility

Platinum Yacht Repair, the yacht repair and maintenance arm of Dubai's Drydocks World & Maritime World, say they have converted the landing craft Al Hail 1, belonging to Dubai-based M/S Royal Yachts from naval to civilan use as floating yacht repair and maintenance facility. Dubai Maritime City Signs Manufacturing Lease Agreement with Vitmar Yachts

Dubai Maritime City, a facility providing maritime services, signed a Yacht Manufacturing Workshop Lease Agreement with Vitmar Yachts, a custom luxury motor yachts manufacturer, for property within its’ Marine District. The Agreement was signed by Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Drydocks World and Sheikh Tariq Al Khalifa, President of Vitmar. Vitmar Yachts is a new brand founded by Sheikh Tariq Al Khalifa, President and Antonio Amatuzzo, CEO with the cooperation of well-known Italian designers and craft makers, and the yachts will be assembled at their workshop in Dubai Maritime City.

QE2 Set for Relaunch

Iconic cruise liner to be restored to the former splendor of her glory days after refurbishment into elegant five-star 500-room hotel. QE2 Dubai announced that MS Queen Elizabeth 2 - known popularly as QE2 - will be moved to Drydocks World Dubai for undertaking classification checks prior to her renovation as a luxury floating hotel. Before itsretirement to Dubai on November 11, 2008, the QE2 took regular cruises around the world as well as operating a scheduled liner service across the Atlantic Ocean between Southampton in the UK and New York.

Drydocks World in Cooperation Talks With Lürssen

Drydocks World has announced that constructive talks were held by its high level delegation led by Mr. Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World with senior personnel of Lürssen Werft, a German shipbuilding company that designs and builds yachts, naval ships and special vessels, on the sidelines of SMM – Hamburg. The two companies aim to work together on implementation of navy projects not limited to UAE’s naval fleet, by sharing scope of work and knowledge sharing on technical and project management aspects.
