Wagner Hired to Lead Derecktor's Florida Sales Team

Derik Wagner recently joined Derecktor Shipyards’ executive team as director of sales, bringing with him more than 20 years of global sales, business development and management experience. He will lead the Derecktor Florida sales team from Derecktor’s Dania Beach superyacht facility as the company prepares to bring its new Fort Pierce location online this summer.“Our company is growing and fortunate to hire someone of Derik’s caliber,” Paul Derecktor, president of Derecktor Shipyards, said.

Feadship Savannah Completes Awards Sweep

Feadship Savannah has won the International Superyacht Society award for Best Power 65m+, giving this 83.50-meter custom motoryacht a clean sweep of all the top superyacht industry awards. This superb achievement is a testimony to the visionary owner and his partnership with Feadship and CGDesign in creating the world’s first hybrid motor-megayacht. The ‘Best Power 65m+’ prize was awarded to Savannah and Feadship at the 26th edition of ISS’s Awards Gala in Fort Lauderdale. The victory was part of an excellent week for the yacht, which was the undoubted queen of the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show.

ISS Announces New Board of Directors

The ISS (International Superyacht Society) announces its 2014-2017 Board of Directors and Past Presidents Council. For the current year and based on a democratic voting system, ISS members have awarded eight board positions for three years for the 2014-2017 term. Representing global interests, both the ISS Executive Committee and Board of Directors are well represented. Of the executive committee, three members are based full-time in Europe, two full-time in the U.S. and one with homes and business interests in both regions. Of the general board, eight are based in Europe with 16 in the United States.

Bolideck Future Teak on Deck for Luxury

Standards set by yacht owners for stylish decking that is also environmentally responsible are being matched in the yacht support vessel market. Dutch flooring and decking specialist Bolidt has secured a new contract to supply and install Bolideck Future Teak for the deck onboard a Fast Yacht Support Vessel under construction at Damen Shipyards Group company Amels, of Vlissingen. The durable, lightweight synthetic decking system with the look and feel of real teak will be fitted on the Sea Axe 6711 Fast Yacht Support Vessel (FYSV), a 67m length vessel due delivery in early 2014.

Damen-built GARÇON Wins Innovation Award

The 67m Fast Yacht Support vessel, GARÇON, built by Damen, has won the ISS Awards of Distinction for Innovation at the International Superyacht Society Awards Gala in Fort Lauderdale. GARÇON came out top of an industry-led voting process that assessed five shortlisted entries in the competitive and broad-ranging Innovation category. GARÇON was designed and customized according to the requirements of the client, the owner of an 87m luxury superyacht. ISS Sailboat Regatta Will Benefit Cancer Victims

The ISS (International Superyacht Society) annual UK-based Regatta on the Solent will benefit the 'Sail 4 Cancer' charity. This year’s event will be held from June 7-9. 2013. Last year’s winner, BMT Nigel Gee will return to defend their title. With eight boats already confirmed, 12 to 15 are expected. Racers convene in Hamble on the evening of June 7th, spend the night on June 8th in Cowes and conclude racing on June 9th. Participating companies will rent one-design boats from Fairview and crew them with staff, vendors and clients.
