A Look Inside A North German Showroom for Superyachts

The Bremen district of Vegesack enjoys an excellent reputation as the North German Superyacht Valley on the banks of the River Weser. A reputation that extends far beyond the world-famous shipyards of Lürssen and Abeking & Rasmussen. In fact, many other well-known companies in the industry are also contributing to the high-profile international standing of the area, including the renowned design studio beiderbeck designs, which has its head office here. This is now undergoing expansion with a new and exclusive showroom for megayacht equipment.

Lumitec Celebrates 10 Years

Lumitec Lighting this month celebrates a company milestone as the South Florida based LED lighting manufacturer enters its 10th year in business. Lumitec was founded in November 2007 with its initial focus primarily on marine lighting. The company has since gone on to venture into other markets, producing new products year after year, with sales increases exceeding triple digits in many years. “Our success is partly the result of hard work, focus, determination and a little luck. But above all else our talented and devoted team is what has gotten us to where we are today,” said company founder and president John Kujawa.

Custom Yachts Feature Hybrid Battery Propulsion

The owners were keen to give a distinctive look, and several configurations of superstructures were developed with particular focus on personal expression, the designer noted. The vessels feature reinforced steel hulls and aluminum superstructures…

Internet at Sea: Staying Connected

The maritime industry is at a crossroads, with a dearth of next-generation talent willing and available for a life at sea, yet increasing demands for efficiency and clarity of operations. At this crossroads lies modern communication technology, the connective tissue that can help to cure many of the industry’s ills, as Frank Coles, President of Inmarsat Maritime, contends. Commercial shipping will always remain a pivotal link in the global transport chain, but the very nature…

Rhodes Communications Celebrates a Milestone

Having served as the editor of Maritime Reporter & Engineering News for more than 20 years, it is my running joke that Jim Rhodes, president, Rhodes Communications, Inc., is the first person I see at every trade show I attend, anywhere I attend, around the world. This, I think, is testament not to dumb luck, rather to Rhodes, who this month celebrates the 30th Anniversary of his self-named PR firm, as an astute and always-present PR machine. Rhodes Communications, Inc., an international public relations and marketing services company based in Norfolk, Va., celebrates its 30th year of business this month.
