America's Cup to Take Place from Oct. 12 in 2024

The 37th edition of sailing's America's Cup will take place in the southern part of Barcelona along the beachfront, with racing set to begin from Oct. 12, 2024, the organizers of the oldest international competition in sport said on Wednesday.Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and Team New Zealand, who retained the America's Cup last year with victory over Italy's Luna Rossa in Auckland, said in March that they had decided on Barcelona as the next host city as defenders of the "Auld Mug".The America's Cup match -- which will be a best-of-13 format -- will commence on Oct.

KVH Named Official Supplier of American Magic

KVH Industries, Inc., (Nasdaq: KVHI) has been named an Official Supplier of New York Yacht Club American Magic, a Challenger for the 36th America’s Cup. KVH has installed advanced satellite-based and cellular-based communications equipment for the team’s chase boats in order to facilitate high-speed data transmissions. Evinrude Named Official Engine Supplier of American Magic

Evinrude hasannounced that it has been named Official Engine Supplier of New York Yacht Club American Magic, a professional sailing team and Challenger for the 36th America’s Cup. Evinrude will outfit American Magic’s fleet of chase boats with 300 HP E-TEC G2 engines. In addition, Evinrude will provide the organization’s technical crew with a training course at its Sturtevant facility. Each engine will also be custom wrapped with an American flag-based design.The America’s Cup is the highest prize in sailing, and the oldest event in international sports.

Sailing-Stars & Stripes Team USA Joins Challengers for America’s Cup

Stars & Stripes Team USA has been accepted by holders Emirates Team New Zealand and the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron as the fifth challenger for the 36th America's Cup, which will take place in Auckland in 2021.The team was co-founded by sailors Mike Buckley and Taylor Canfield and represents the first all-American team in more than 15 years to compete for the oldest trophy in international sport, Long Beach Yacht Club said in an emailed statement."Our name is a nod to Dennis Conner's ‘Stars & Stripes’ campaigns that defined all-American America's Cup racing for decades.

Mediterranean - A New Playground for IMOCAs

In line with a sports policy driven by its President HSH Prince Albert II, the Yacht Club de Monaco is organizing the first Monaco Globe Series early June, the first stage of the new IMOCA (2018-2020) Championship. The second will be the Route du Rhum in November which celebrates its 40th anniversary. With nine of the 60-footers already registered and one pending confirmation, the double-handed non-stop offshore race without assistance is a chance for competitors to rack up points towards selection for the Vendée Globe 2020.

Royal Navy's HMS Dragon Rescues Yacht Crew

Type 45 destroyer HMS Dragon rescues 14 stricken sailors from damaged British racing yacht. "The crew of Dragon have rescued 14 sailors in treacherous weather conditions today after a racing yacht suffered damage in the Atlantic ocean," says a statement from Royal Navy. HMS Dragon was diverted 500 miles away from a routine tasking to provide life-saving assistance to the crew of the 60ft Clyde Challenger racing yacht. The yacht had left the Azores on 5 February 2017 and was bound for the UK when it suffered significant damage following days of strong winds and heavy seas.
