Press Release - A WESMAR sonar is on one of the world’s most elegant megayachts, and one that will be featured at the Monaco Yacht Show September 23-26. Sonar for navigation and security is growing in popularity onboard large yachts and excursion boats, says WESMAR (Western Marine Electronics) leading US marine electronics company.

The 207-foot (63 meter) Benetti super yacht was commissioned in August by legendary Italian boat builder Benetti. She has a WESMAR Model EV850/110 kHz-10 sonar on.

The Benetti M/Y 11/11 will be toured, touted and photographed by hundreds of people at the show for her exceptional beauty and design, but also for her navigation and security sonar, recognizing that more and more super yachts, are looking for added security for their passengers and protection for their vessels, particularly in remote and unique locations.

WESMAR’s EV850 technology incorporates precision beam stabilization for maximum performance in hazardous close-to-shore and shallow-water situations. The sonar provides a picture of the underwater, 360 degrees around the vessel, so before dropping anchor or going close to shore, the captain can scan for suitable depth and obstacles, to avoid groundings.

For vessel security, increasingly important in potentially dangerous harbors, the WESMAR sonar includes the ability to detect and track divers hundreds of feet away, providing early warning and time for response. The WESMAR meets the navigation and security needs of all types of vessels traveling the oceans of the world, providing amazing shallow water performance and extreme navigation capability. The system includes WESMAR’s proprietary electronic beam stabilization for steady, reliable target tracking even in rough water.

M/Y 11/11, a full displacement super yacht, has four decks contained in her steel hull and aluminum superstructure, and a range of 5,000 nm, room for up to 12 guests and 14 crew. She was designed by Benetti’s in-house team.

She has four internal decks and gorgeous full-beam owner’s cabins, one on the main deck, the second on the upper deck with private access to the pool and solarium deck. The lower deck hosts four guest cabins, each with its own en-suite washroom. There is also a smaller sun deck.

Her maximum speed is 16.5 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots. Her distinctive plumb bow instantly sets her apart from other Benetti super yachts. It increases the yacht’s hydrodynamics and fuel efficiency.
