Sunsail is thrilled to open a new yacht  charter base in Palma on the island of Mallorca in May 2013.

This new  sailing destination will offer Bareboat and Skippered Yacht Charters and is  perfect for cruising the nearby Balearic Islands of Ibiza, Menorca and  Formentera.

Cheryl Powell, Chief Operating Officer of Sunsail, who has enjoyed several  holidays in Palma commented; “our new base in Palma, the busy commercial and  cultural center of Mallorca and the capital of the beautiful Balearic  Islands, is a fantastic addition to our charter offering in the  Mediterranean. With great access from almost every European airport, Palma  is a city of modern hotel chains, and stylish shops; yet, it still retains  much of the fascinating architecture in the Old Town and the restored  cathedral stands proud in the center of town. Guests can dine out on some of  the best tapas Spain has to offer and enjoy the great shopping, before or  after setting sail.”

The new Sunsail base in Palma is situated at the Marina Naviera Balear in  Palma Harbour, just a short walk to the old town of Palma, which has an  array of architecture including the stunning Cathedral. Mallorca has many  bustling fishing ports such as Andraitx, Soller, Porto Cristo, Cala d'Or or  Puerto Deportivo as well as several golden beaches and bays, ideal for  anchoring overnight.

Simon Conder, Head of Marketing, says; “Palma is the perfect place to  charter from and explore all that the Balearic Islands have to offer. With  the beautiful Cabrera National Park just a half day sail from Mallorca  offering superb diving and a great snorkeling experience. The Balearics  offer something for everyone; charterers can head to the nearby stylish  party islands of Ibiza and Fermenter or the relaxed island of Menorca which  all have their own unique culture and local cuisine.”

Reflecting on the newly established partnership, Juan Birlangua of Marina  Naviera Baler, commented, “The Balearic Islands are a fantastic cruising  area, in fact, the Mediterranean’s leading charter destination thanks to the  best international air connections and the welcoming venues for sailors. We  are proud to announce our new partnership with Sunsail in the Balearic  Islands, in cooperation with Marina Naviera Balear.”

The Sunsail Palma fleet will initially consist of the Sunsail 47 and the  revolutionary new Sunsail 444 catamaran allowing guests the choice of a  monohull or our latest award-winning catamaran for their charter. A new,  powerful and well-balanced yacht, the Sunsail 47 is an elegant offshore  cruiser built with ease of handling in mind. This yacht offers a high  quality cruising experience and an exceptional interior, which is available  with 4-cabin/4-head accommodation in the Mediterranean. A Robertson and  Caine design, the new Sunsail 444 has a unique forward cockpit with direct  access from the saloon. Offering increased visibility, ventilation and  increased living space, the folding table and covered seating in the forward  cockpit allows for even more room for a relaxing sunset cocktail or two, as  well as providing cooling breezes into the saloon and aft cockpit. Every  detail on these new yachts has been expertly conceived to offer the highest  quality, most comfortable sailing experience.
