Software Update Expands Simrad Display Functionality
Simrad NSS and NSO evo2 users are able to download a free software upgrade for Simrad NSS and NSO evo2 multifunction displays. The latest software updates, RTM 3.5 for NSS evo2, RTM 4.5 for NSO evo2 and RTM 2.0 for GO7, enable TripIntel, StructureScan 3D, SonicHub2 capabilities and significant enhancements to the WM-3 Weather Module.
Offering boaters valuable vessel-tracking information, TripIntel presents vital data in an intuitive graphical format providing everything a boater needs to plan and manage a day offshore. By offering actionable performance enhancements, users gain insight that can improve safety, cut costs and maximize time on the water. TripIntel consists of a Cruise Performance Indicator and a History tab.
The Cruise Performance Indicator is added to the instrument bar of the GO7, NSS and NSO evo2, and provides a combination fuel gauge, digital fuel economy readout and bar graphs indicating both instantaneous fuel burn and long-term fuel economy. To optimize fuel economy, these real-time bar graphs show a “green zone” helping boaters fine-tune trim and throttle while underway to achieve maximum fuel economy. Boaters are also able to configure fuel economy targets suitable for the specific hull and engine combinations.
The TripIntel History tab records important information assisting in the planning of future trips with insight into boat performance data such as estimated fuel range, total distance travelled, route taken, boat speed, fuel consumption and current tides.
For NSS and NSO evo2 users, the latest update adds StructureScan 3D functionality when used with the StructureScan 3D module and transducer. Allowing anglers to see fish, structure and bottom contour in a stunning three-dimensional view, StructureScan 3D imaging scans underwater terrain and fish-holding structure and creates a high-resolution, 180-degree, three-dimensional view beneath the boat. With this unique imaging view, anglers gain a better understanding of where fish and structure are located in relation to their boat.
Marine audio entertainment system the Simrad SonicHub2 features integrated Bluetooth wireless technology that provides music streaming ─ including Pandora (wherever Pandora is available) ─ from a smartphone or tablet. The system has a built-in AM/FM receiver, supports USB drive audio/video playback and features SIRIUSXM radio connectivity (U.S. only) ─ all with full control from the display.
Bringing the power of an entire weather bureau to NSS and NSO evo2 multifunction displays, the WM-3 includes weather radar, forecasts, weather warnings and roadside fuel prices, plus up to 220 expanded audio channels ─ all controlled directly from the chartplotter display.
The software updates add the following weather module features:
- High-resolution sea surface temperatures up to a 24 nautical mile coastal limit (including the Great Lakes)
- High-resolution coastal and Great Lakes waves (with height, period and direction) with forecasts up to a 24 nautical mile coastal limit; high-resolution wind speed and direction with forecasts
- NOWrad merged with Southern Canada, the Bahamas and Mexican radar
- Sea surface temperatures and wave data in Mexico and throughout Central America
- Complete Canadian Marine Zone forecasts from Alaska throughout the Pacific Coast
- Surface features forecasts with isobars and weather front symbols, cloud top images and echo tops
With the release of these software updates, StructureScan 3D module and transducers, as well as the SonicHub2 module and accessories are now shipping to retailers.
