Maritime industry executives from around the world will convene in Stamford, Conn., Sept. 30 through Oct. 2, 2014 for SHIPPINGInsight 2014. Entering its third year, SHIPPINGInsight has become established as the premier maritime industry technical forum in North America addressing practical solutions for the challenges facing ship operators.

For 2014, the conference organizers are expanding the event with the addition of a dedicated Marine LNG Symposium, Sept. 30, a stand-alone forum featuring a full day of discussion dedicated to all aspects of conversion to LNG as a marine fuel. It will be followed by the two-day Fleet Optimization Conference and Exhibition Oct. 1-2. Attendees can register for the one-day symposium separately or in concert with the conference.

“We are building on the success of our previous events by adding new opportunities for attendees to exchange ideas, learn from industry experts and network with top shipping company executives,” said Frank Soccoli, co-producer of SHIPPINGInsight. “For 2014 there will be more speakers, panel sessions, technical solutions, case histories and exhibits.”

The provisional agenda for the Fleet Optimization Conference will include sessions on Designing & Building Efficient Ships, Fuel & Propulsion Management, Ship Performance & Optimization, Fleet Intelligence & Optimization and Crew Resource Management, as well as a new open-discussion Ship Telematics Roundtable. The Marine LNG Symposium will feature panels on Navigating the Regulatory Environment, LNG Bunkering, Designing for LNG and LNG Infrastructure, followed by an open roundtable Q&A with industry leaders.

Another new feature for 2014 will be the presentation of the inaugural SHIPPINGInsight Awards, recognizing companies for their achievements in propelling innovation in fleet optimization. An independent panel of industry journalists, academics and consultants will review nominations and determine the winners. The winners will be announced at a gala luncheon during SHIPPINGInsight 2014.

Last year, more than 100 maritime industry experts from 11 countries attended SHIPPINGInsight, including senior executives from major shipowners who served as panel moderators and speakers. The organizers say the event fills an industry need by providing a forum to discuss timely cost reduction and efficiency solutions.

“The shipping industry continues to struggle with market conditions characterized by severe overcapacity, low freight rates, high debt loads, soaring fuel costs and rising costs of regulatory compliance. Under these conditions, it’s imperative for shipping companies to trim operating costs and operate ships more efficiently,” said conference co-producer Jim Rhodes. “That’s the reason for SHIPPINGInsight.”
