New York Man's Transatlantic Rowboat Enters the Water
Maspalomas, Gran Canaria - Victor Mooney of Queens, New York watched the Spirit of Malabo, a 24' ocean rowboat, enter the water for the first time since it left Brooklyn, New York in December.
"The boys in Brooklyn really tied her down" [Mr. Mooney referring to the staff at the Gateway Marina that secured his vessel in the container], said Victor Mooney by phone in Maspalomas, Gran Canaria.
Mr. Mooney will undergo a second round of testing before rowing five-thousand miles back to Brooklyn. The rower hopes his fourth attempt at this feat will encourage voluntary HIV testing.
