Mercury Marine Sweden Sponsors Powerboat Weekend

Mercury Marine  recently sponsored the largest powerboat event in Sweden and one of the biggest in all of Europe.  The Powerboat Weekend, held in Sandhamn, brings in boaters from Finland, Germany, Norway and more for a one-of-a-kind poker run where boaters make five stops, looking for the best poker hand.  In all, more than 80 boats participated in the two-day event in early July.

“Mercury Marine continues to have a strong brand presence in Sweden and we want to continue to bring people together in this country to get out on the water and enjoy time with their friends and family,” said Pontus Liljequist, Mercury Marine Sweden country manager. “This is the third year we have partnered with Powerboat Weekend and it has been very successful for Mercury Marine and we hope to continue to be a part of this great weekend of boating in the Stockholm Archipelago.”

During the poker run, boaters made stops at Vaxholm, Djurönäset and Stockholm city where there were several thousand fans waiting to see the boats in the water.  Mercury Performance Dealer Frode Marina AB provided support for Powerboat Weekend participants and dealer Kanholmsfjärdens Marina offered tests of inflatable boats powered by Mercury Marine engines for anyone visiting the Sandhamn harbor.

“What is special about the whole event is that there are boats and crew's participating from around Europe and there is a very good, positive, friendly and relaxed atmosphere among participants, spectators, people visiting the island and people living on the island,” said Liljequist.
