St. Petersburg, Fla.-based Mastry Engine Center will host an American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) Diesel Engine Certification course, July 31–Aug. 2.

Course instructor Curt Ainsworth will cover diesel engine theory of operation, troubleshooting and marine-specific installation requirements. Students with engine manufacturer training will benefit by learning key ABYC standards. A passing score on the 185-question exam will provide 32 CEUs and nationally accredited ABYC certification. Training will be in Mastry's classroom facility, complete with a built-in mechanical shop.

Being ABYC certified denotes a degree of technical expertise that's recognized throughout the international marine industry. Highly valued, the credentials reflect achievement, demonstrate commitment to the profession, and improve career opportunities and advancement.

"Marine engines evolve at a staggering pace," said Kevin Carlan, Mastry president. "We've always placed a high emphasis on technical training and are pleased to be able to again support ABYC in this way." Mastry Engine Center, a Yanmar company, regularly hosts ABYC educational events.
