The Isle of Man Maritime Group has announced its event plans for the International Festival of Business 2014 (IFB 2014), during the Maritime, Logistics and Energy themed week in June.

The IFB is a global business event, taking place in the UK, Liverpool throughout June and July, with a target audience of 250,000 business professionals and advisors from over 125 countries.  The Festival is supported by the UK Government and aims to promote business in the North West and accelerate economic growth with an ambitious programme of over 100 themed global business events.

Formed earlier this year by Isle of Man maritime sector organizations, the purpose of the Group is to consolidate efforts in promoting the Isle of Man as a centre of excellence for the maritime sector at an international level, and to explore shared opportunities.

The Group has organized a series of events over a two day period on the historic and prestigious Kathleen and May tall ship. These will take place on the 11th and 12th of June and are expected to attract business professionals from around the world, interested in finding out more about the maritime and superyacht expertise on the Isle of Man.

The Isle of Man Maritime Group will hold informal networking sessions throughout the day, opening each one with a short introductory talk entitled, ‘Isle of Man - Maritime Centre of Excellence’.   Those signed up for the early session will be offered breakfast and a hog roast on deck will be available throughout the rest of the day.

Event highlights include two invite only themed evening receptions, ‘Cocktails and Sails’ and ‘Wine on the Waves’.  Both of these events will provide an opportunity for guests to network with Group members whilst enjoying either a selection of cocktails and canapés or sampling wines from around the world. Local produce from the Isle of Man will be showcased at these events with Manx cheese and seafood on offer.

As the Isle of Man has a well-established superyacht industry, the Isle of Man SuperYacht Forum will be inviting guests to attend a presentation entitled, ‘Managing some of the World’s Most Iconic and Valuable Assets’. This will be followed by a lunch reception on deck.

The Isle of Man Maritime Group has recently launched a website (iom-maritime.com) with full details of the events and the services offered by all of its members. There is also a registration form to sign up for one of the networking sessions on board the Kathleen & May.

Members of the Isle of Man Maritime group include Baker Tilly, Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement, Bibby Ship Management, Boston Limited, Cayman National Bank and Trust Company (Isle of Man) Limited, Döhle, ICM Group, i-Bos Ltd, Isle of Man Ship Registry, Isle of Man Shipping Association, the Isle of Man Yacht Forum, KPMG, Maersk and PDMS.  The Group maintains close communications with the Department of Economic Development (DED), with respect to complementary activities.
