ICOMIA Superyacht Refit Group Welcomes New Members
On Monday 10 December, renowned German shipyard, Blohm + Voss, joined the ICOMIA Superyacht Refit Group as its ninth member.
The International Council of Marine Industry Associations’ (ICOMIA) Superyacht Refit Group represents quality refit, repair and maintenance yards. Working towards maintaining and improving global superyacht quality, the Refit Group follows professional working standards and specified environmental practices.
Situated in the port of Hamburg, the northern hub of European shipping routes, Blohm + Voss Repair has a workforce of approximately 450 skilled employees, the power to facilitate large and complex projects and a customised and compact service for all kind of yachts. With covered floating docks, ship life extension programmes and DOCKMASTERS1, (high-pressure robotic waterjets which strip off marine fouling and paint), Blohm + Voss Repair operates some of the most sophisticated ship maintenance equipment in the world – and its motto is, “we repair anything that floats".

All ICOMIA Superyacht Refit Group members have to conform to a unique Code of Practice, which brings certainty to refits and eases the owner's concerns on how their yacht's refit will be managed and the quality that will be achieved. In addition to the Code of Practice, the Refit Group offers its clients a standard framework contract that has been developed by prominent international marine lawyers and factsheets such as 'A client's guide to good refit governance' – The Code of Practice, Refit Contract and factsheets are available to download from the Refit Group website.
