Emerald Marine Products' MOB Protection
It's not easy putting a price on safety. But Emerald Marine Products' ALERT Man-Overboard system delivers unmatched protection to marine professionals for a mere $1 per day—less than a cup of coffee.
Built for commercial use, the ALERT system consists of a light, compact transmitter that's worn on a life jacket and a receiver installed in a wheelhouse or work office. Over the course of its three-year warranty, the cost equals $1 per day. By adding additional transmitters, this figure is reduced.
The ALERT system is ideal for anyone who makes a living on or around water. It's in use on workboats and oil and gas platforms, and by shoreside construction and port workers worldwide.
Often, these professionals are working out of sight of each other. If a fall into the water occurs, the transmitter becomes immersed, instantly sending a signal to the receiver. This causes a piercing 95 dB alarm to sound. The device can also be wired to shut down engines, set a waypoint on a compatible GPS chartplotter, and activate external speakers and strobes. Emerald Marine Products offers a certified Intrinsically Safe (IS) option for oil and gas workers.
What separates the ALERT system from those that rely on satellites or cellular signals is its immediacy. There is no lag from activation to an alarm sounding. In cold or moving water, this can mean the difference between a successful recovery and a fatality.
The transmitter was designed with workers in mind. It's only 4.25" L x 1.5" W x 1" D and weighs 3.6 oz. It has six LED diodes that flash when the device is activated. A Spray Tight Pouch is available for overly wet environments.
Emerald Marine Products' ALERT418 Man-Overboard System comes with a transmitter, receiver, 15" flexible whip antenna, 25' of coaxial cable and mounting hardware. Prices start at $1,088.
