Australia’s custom superyacht builder Echo Yachts has commenced construction of the ASC57 – a sailing catamaran superyacht.

It will be the world’s largest such vessel and is being built in partnership with Dutch sailing yacht designers Dykstra Naval Architects and Australian aluminum multihull experts One2Three Naval Architects.

Drawing inspiration from Echo Yachts' 2023 newbuild motor yacht M/Y Charley 2, the ASC57 sailing yacht will feature luxury accommodation, a vast array of water toys and helicopter landing capabilities.

New is a twin-Dynarig sail system by Southern Spars. As a result of the addition of sail power, a regenerative power system will be installed, utilizing twin shaft generators and a battery storage system to allow for silent running under sail. With a controllable pitch propeller, the main engines can be utilized without the need to run separate generators to power the vessel more efficiently when motoring. The twin Dynarigs providing a total sail area of some 1660 square meters.
