Vard Wins Expedition Cruise Contract

Vard Holdings Limited said it won a contract for the design and construction of an expedition cruise vessel for Coral Expeditions of Australia. Newly developed by Vard Design in Norway in cooperation with the customer, the vessel is specially designed for small ship expedition cruises to remote and exotic destinations in the regions of Asia-Pacific. First Call of AIDAbella in China’s Megacity

Early on the morning of April 2, 2017, AIDAbella was the first ship of the AIDA fleet to sail past Shanghai’s famous skyline, before the ship docked at the International Cruise Terminal at around 6.30 a.m. AIDAbella will remain from April 2 to 4, 2017, in this imposing metropolis in which AIDA is performing its turn-around operations for the first time. Around 4,000 guests will thus be able to experience Shanghai on exciting excursions, shopping, or while undertaking a vast array of leisure activities. Clipper Yacht Race: Making The Turn

Strong winds in the Da Nang New Discovery of Asia Race have led to some thrilling racing conditions for the Clipper Race fleet, with teams recording speeds of over 32 knots near the virtual mark at the most southern point of the course. The choppy sea state presents its own challenges for the crew but as the front runners begin their journey north, conditions are expected to ease slightly over the next couple of days as a high develops off the south of Japan. As Derry~Londonderry~Doire continues to lead the fleet, GREAT Britain and Garmin are in an ongoing battle for second place.

China Launches First Maritime Silk Road Cruise Liner

China has launched its first cruise liner to sail via its ambitious transcontinental initiative Maritime Silk Road (MSR) on its maiden voyage during which it will visit three South-East Asian nations. The liner has scheduled stops in Vietnam, the Gulf of Thailand and Malaysia before eventually reaches Kuantan Port in Malaysia. The cruise liner set off from the Beihai port in southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The 135-m-long 20-m-wide modern cruise ship can accommodate about 400 people and is equipped with wireless Internet access.

Quantum of the Seas to Embark on World Tour in 2015

World Travelers will not need to trek out to New York City to catch Quantum of the Seas, the most anticipated cruise ship to-date. The ship will come to them. Royal Caribbean International has announced the details of the Quantum Global Odyssey, a 53-night epic journey, departing May 2, 2015, from the New York-metropolitan area to its new home in Shanghai (Baoshan), China. Quantum of the Seas will take its never-before-seen-at-sea experience globally to savvy vacationers after the ship’s inaugural winter season in New York from Nov. 2014 through Apr. 2015.

The company published information about the 86-day voyage of the new AIDA vessel from March 22 to June 16, 2015 in a brochure, also presenting initial details of its new generation of ships. On this cruise from Japan to Germany, AIDA guests will get to visit 39 ports in 22 countries on 3 continents. To ensure ample time for discovery, the ship will even stop at some of the ports for a few days, e.g. at the Japanese ports, as well as in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore. Further highlights of the voyage include South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Dubai, Sicily and Barcelona.
