Wood Forever Pact: New Criteria for RINA Green Plus Yacht

A Monaco yacht show dedicated to the Green philosophy through numerous initiatives aimed at boosting environmental awareness in the world of pleasure craft. On Saturday 28 September, aboard the 55-meter Ocean Paradise built by Benetti shipyards, an event was held which left a notable green footprint on the decks of the super yachts: leading classification company RINA Services and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation joined forces to promote the sustainable use of wood in the yachting industry.

RINA, Russian Register Join Forces on Yachts and Ice Class

RINA Group’s certification company, RINA Services (RINA), and the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) have agreed to cooperate on specific projects where each society has complementary strengths. Initial cooperation will focus on yachts and ice class. RINA will use its expertise with yachts, pleasure craft and passenger vessels to help RS approve specific projects for yachts and passenger vessels which may operate in Russian waters or under the Russian flag, and RS will help RINA to meet the needs of some of its clients for Arctic navigation and offshore operations, especially with respect to ice class and winterization.

RINA and Drydocks World Team Up

The RINA Group has entered a framework agreement to supply certification and engineering services to UAE-based Drydocks World - Dubai (LLC). Under an MOU signed in Rome (Italy) today Drydocks World will draw on RINA Group's field of expertise to deliver assistance on project management and ship’s classification and certification for a number of projects including floating hotels, mega yachts, special project vessels, underwater units and warships. Cruise Ship Center of Excellence Launched

Classification society RINA Group has grouped all its experts on cruise vessels under a new Cruise Ships Center of Excellence. The aim is to deliver improved service to operators, designers and builders of cruise vessels, and to foster innovation in new services internally. “We have a lot of expertise around the group which can benefit cruise ship owners. Our recent internal reorganization has given us the chance to harness that expertise more effectively," said Paolo Moretti, General Manager, Business Line Marine, RINA Group.

RINA Group supports Tasneef

RINA Group has been chosen as the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) partner to support the development of Tasneef, a new classification society for the United Arab Emirates. Emirates Classification – Tasneef has been established in Abu Dhabi and plans to expand with future worldwide offices. Working in partnership with RINA, the goal is to develop Tasneef as an international classification society capable of meeting the technical and classification needs of the region's maritime industry, the UAE flag and international commercial shipping.

RINA Launches Sailing Rig Guidelines

International classification society RINA has developed guidelines for yacht sailing rig analysis, manufacturing and maintenance. The scheme includes full certification of the rig and a verifiable planned maintenance scheme. Paolo Moretti, General Manager Marine, RINA Group, says, “This is a new approach to a challenging engineering problem. Until now, sailing yacht classification has focused on the hull and machinery. We think that this is illogical, as sailing yachts depend on their rig.
