In line with its “Bridge to Propeller” strategy for maritime applications, the business unit Power Systems of Rolls-Royce has expanded its yacht portfolio.This includes new bridge and automation solutions from specialist Team Italia Marine, which Rolls-Royce acquired in July 2023. Already today, numerous shipyards for motor yachts between 30 and 100 meters in length rely on integrated bridge and automation solutions from the new Italian subsidiary, especially Italian yacht builders who occupy a prominent position on the international market.

Rolls-Royce to Deliver 'Cleanest' mtu Series 2000 Engines for US-built Yacht
Rolls-Royce said Wednesday it would deliver its new generation mtu Series 2000 engines which comply with the strict emissions regulations IMO III and EPA Tier 3 Recreational for the first time for a yacht to be built in the US. Rolls-Royce will provide two 16V 2000 M97L engines with an integrated SCR system and a power output of 1939 KW (2600 bhp) each.The engines will be installed in a Westport 125 yacht. Rolls-Royce is also delivering its automation solution mtu NautIQ Blue Vision NG for monitoring and control of the yacht’s propulsion system.

John Deere Rolls Out Trio of Marine Engines
John Deere Power Systems has expanded its lineup with three new marine engines available for order from early 2018. The new 4.5L PowerTech 4045SFM85 offers high power to weight ratio for repowering and new vessel construction, and is ideal for planing and semi-displacement hulls, the manufacturer said. It has two ratings for light-duty commercial vessels, high-speed governmental applications and high-speed pleasure craft, which includes an M4 rating with 205 kW (275 hp) at 2,600 rpm and M5 rating with 235 kW (315 hp) at 2,800 rpm. The 4045SFM85 propulsion engine ratings will meet U.S.
MTU Brings Latest Propulsion Systems to Cannes and Monaco
Rolls-Royce is showing off its latest state-of-the-art propulsion systems and service solutions from MTU for motor and sailing yachts at this year’s yacht shows in Cannes and Monaco. At the Festival de la Plaisance in Cannes, which takes place from September 12 to 17, MTU will be presenting a new close-to-production prototype hybrid system based on its 16-cylinder Series 2000 engine on Stand Jetee 179. Rolls-Royce Showcases New Yacht Engine at FLIBS
Rolls-Royce will be marketing the 10-cylinder version of its advanced MTU Series 2000 M96L yacht engine at the 2016 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show from Nov. 3 to 7 . A 12-cylinder version of the engine will be showcased at MTU’s booth (engine tent 1212/1215). Also on display will be MTU’s Blue Vision New Generation ship automation with integrated Joystick System, which will allow visitors to steer a virtual yacht in a simulation. The MTU brand is part of Rolls-Royce Power Systems.
Kohler Launches New Tier 3 Diesel Marine Generators
Kohler Power Systems, manufacturer of diesel and gasoline marine generators for pleasure and commercial craft applications, announced the availability of its new single- and three-phase Tier 3 marine diesel generators. The company’s 14-24EKOZD/12-20.5EFKOZD integrate Kohler diesel Tier 3 engines and other enhancements, including improved sound shields and Kohler’s Decision-Maker 3500 controller (DEC 3500). “Our generators are always evolving to meet the diverse and dynamic needs of today’s boat builders and pleasure craft owners alike,” said Greg Klompenhouwer, senior product manager for Kohler Marine.
Strong Demand at SCIBS
Sancutary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) has reported strong exhibition space take-up from Sydney and Melbourne based exhibitors for the 2016 Show, showing a vote of industry confidence in the event strategically positioned at the launch of the Australasian boat show season. An array of interstate exhibitors will grace the marina and pavilion space at SCIBS in May, including Victorian based Sundance, who will be bringing the coveted Monte Carlo to SCIBS, along with Yanmar, Energy Power Systems (Cat Marine) and the City of Melbourne Marina among others.
Rolls-Royce to Deliver MTU Engines to Bilgin Yachts
MTU Turkey has signed a contract with Istanbul-based Bilgin Yachts for the supply of six MTU engines. These will be deployed to power two 47.6-m Bilgin 156 motor yachts, as well as the largest yacht ever built in Turkey in its class – the Bilgin 263. Bilgin Yachts recently won the construction order for the 80.1-m superyacht from a long-standing customer. It will be powered by twin MTU 16V 4000 M63R engines. Bilgin also decided to embark on the construction of two 47.6-m motor yachts – each of which will be powered by an MTU 12V 2000 M72 unit. MTU is part of Rolls-Royce Power Systems.
