Torqeedo, BMW Cooperate on Emissions-free Drive System
Around the world with BMW i and Torqeedo technology: German sailor Boris Herrmann is planning to compete for the Yacht Club de Monaco in the Vendée Globe solo, around-the-world race in 2020 with the yacht Malizia. BMW and Torqeedo plan to support Team Malizia with lightweight construction and zero-emission drive technology.BMW has a record of technology transfer between competitive sailing and automobile manufacturing through their long history of involvement in the America’s Cup.
New General Manager Joins Barrus
E. P. Barrus Ltd announced the appointment of Ben Allen as General Manager for the Marine Leisure Division. Ben will be responsible for the brands of Mariner and Mercury outboard engines and the range of Quicksilver boats. Ben brings experience from sales and business management roles and has been responsible for setting up a successful businesses of his own. Prior to joining Barrus, Ben was employed as the UK Sales and Marketing Manager for Sterling Power Products, a supplier of power management systems to the marine and commercial vehicle markets.
