Oregon Working to Remove Abandoned Vessels

The Oregon State Marine Board, through its Certified Clean Marina Program, is working to increase the number of abandoned and derelict vessels they can remove over the course of a year.With support from the NOAA Marine Debris Program, the Oregon State Marine Board, through its Certified Clean Marina Program, will remove unwanted abandoned vessels from marinas while they are still securely moored and afloat in an effort to minimize the hazards and high costs associated with responding to future abandoned and derelict vessel situations.

IMTRA Adds Two Account Reps

J. Mark Barrett and Eric MacDonald have joined the outside sales team of IMTRA, a manufacturer and importer of marine and commercial products. “After 35 years with the company, Jerry Truax has retired from IMTRA,” said Eric Braitmeyer, CEO, IMTRA. “He has been a tremendous technical resource, a valued advocate for his customers, a dedicated representative for IMTRA and just a great person. With such big shoes to fill, we have decided to do so with two people. Barrett joins IMTRA on January 26 as recreational Pacific Northwest account representative.

Boaterz 'N Bikerz Pacific Coast Rush

Boating industry bikers from across the country are throttling up this weekend for the official launch of "Pacific Coast Rush," a week-long escorted motorcycle tour from Seattle, WA to San Francisco, CA, including a two-day swing down to Big Sur and Monterey. As part of the "Boaterz 'n Bikerz of America Hull of a Tour" series originally launched in 2011, this summer's cruise kicks off Saturday, July 23 and features a full week of scenic mountain and waterway riding including stretches along the famed Pacific Coast Highway.

Yacht Rescue Involves Cutter in Long Tow

The Coast Guard cutter 'Block Island' has completed a 150 miles tow over a 32-hour period of the disabled 54-foot yacht 'Zulu' with 3 persons on board during bad weather off the coast of North Carolina. The captain aboard the Zulu initially contacted Coast Guard Sector North Carolina watch-standers via satellite phone to report that the sailboat was disabled and adrift with three people aboard approximately 100 miles east of Oregon Inlet, N.C. Bob and Jeni Peterson Join Kadey-Krogen Yachts

Kadey-Krogen Yachts appointed Bob Peterson as sales executive, along with wife Jeni Peterson, based out of the company's corporate office in Stuart, Florida. Bob Peterson began cruising in the Pacific Northwest from his home state of Oregon to Canada and the Inside Passage. After moving to California, Bob and Jeni took their two young children on a year's trip to Mexico on a motoryacht.
