New Yacht Delivery Service: Delivery Passagemakers

Two experienced USCG licensed Captains based in Rhode Island have teamed up to launch a multi-faceted yacht delivery service. Capt. Bill Madison, with more than 30 years’ experience as a licensed Ocean Master with a 1600-ton (GRT) ticket, and Capt. Mike Martel, with a 100GRT near-coastal license, have partnered to form Delivery Passagemakers, combining their experience, sea-knowledge, and compatible approach to serve boat owners, brokers, and anyone needing a vessel moved from Point “A” to Point “B”.

Henderson, Hanes & Associates Opens Doors in Miami

The Miami-based ocean engineering and naval architecture firm of Henderson & Associates, Inc. has merged with Sea3 Systems, Inc. to form Henderson, Hanes & Associates, a full-service engineering firm that brings underwater intervention and project management services to the global marine industry. The new firm, headed by Shawn Henderson, P.E. and Dan Hanes, P.E., both of South Florida, draws on the deep experience base of its founders and specializes in quick turnaround refit and repair projects that may span multiple technical disciplines and trades.

Brazil's Batista Target of Insider Trading Probes

Eike Batista, who was Brazil's richest man for most of the past decade, is under investigation for allegedly engaging in insider trading while he chaired his now-bankrupt oil-producing and shipbuilding firms, securities industry watchdog CVM said on Friday. In a statement sent to Reuters, Rio de Janeiro-based CVM confirmed that Batista is a respondent in six of nine probes that executives of his Grupo EBX conglomerate are facing for breaching securities rules. In two of them, regulators are examining whether Batista allegedly took advantage of his access to privileged information.

Oman-owned Dutch Megayacht Shipyard Set for Expansion

Oman's MB Holding Company, set to expand its newly aquired Oceanco. Rotterdam, shipyard facility. MB Holding Company, one of the largest oilfield services firms in the Middle East, has acquired Oceanco, a specialist in building luxury superyachts since 2010, and plans its massive expansion, reports the Times of Oman. The MB Group Chairman, Mohammed Al Barwani, pointed out to the Mayor of Rotterdam who was on a short visit to Oman, that some of the top businessmen in the world had bought superyachts from the shipyard, whose market tended to be to the Arab world, Asia, India, USA and Europe.

John Dane III Leaves His Mark

“The 2008 financial crash slowed  the luxury business, and the new class warfare coming out of Washington has made owning a large yacht out of favor. In the more than two years since its founding, Mississippi-based TY Offshore, the former Trinity Offshore, has invested in a new yard in Gulfport and repaired its storm-damaged New Orleans holdings. The company has doubled its capacity and racked up new orders, president and CEO John Dane III said. TY Offshore designs and builds offshore barges, tugs, oilfield-support vessels and spill-response and patrol vessels. The company's new name, adopted in late June, should make business simpler.
