KVH Industries, Inc., (Nasdaq: KVHI) has been named an Official Supplier of New York Yacht Club American Magic, a Challenger for the 36th America’s Cup. Evinrude Named Official Engine Supplier of American Magic
Evinrude hasannounced that it has been named Official Engine Supplier of New York Yacht Club American Magic, a professional sailing team and Challenger for the 36th America’s Cup. Evinrude will outfit American Magic’s fleet of chase boats with 300 HP E-TEC G2 engines. In addition, Evinrude will provide the organization’s technical crew with a training course at its Sturtevant facility. Each engine will also be custom wrapped with an American flag-based design.The America’s Cup is the highest prize in sailing, and the oldest event in international sports.

25th Anniversary of the Destriero’s Record Atlantic Crossing
On August 9, 1992 – 25 years ago today – the motor yacht Destriero set the record for the fastest Atlantic crossing, a record that remains unbeaten to this day. The monohull, built in 1991 in less than one year in the Fincantieri shipyard of Muggiano and Riva Trigoso, sailed 3,106 nautical miles without refueling, from Ambrose Light, N.Y. to Bishop Rock lightship on the Scilly Isles, England, in 58 hours at an average speed of 53 knots (reaching a maximum speed of 66 knots), claiming once more the Blue Riband, awarded in 1933 to the legendary transatlantic liner Rex.
Lionheart Prepares for Next Challenge in Newport

2016 Etchells Worlds Comes to Cowes
Cowes Harbour Commission (CHC) has announced that Governors of the International Etchells Class Association have approved Cowes as the venue for the 2016 Etchells World Championship. Racing will take place from 5th to 10th September 2016, organized by the Royal London Yacht Club, and up to 100 boats will be berthed at CHC’s Shepards Wharf Marina where there is an established Etchells dry sailing fleet. The Etchells is one of the world’s leading international one design keelboats outside of the Olympic classes and delivers some of the most competitive racing available.

Modern Classic Yacht Designs Showcased at NY Yacht Club
Bob Stephens co-founder of Stephens Waring Yacht Design, and Alison Langley – acclaimed marine photographer – were at the New York Yacht Club recently to showcase their plans for the forthcoming season. In the crowded Model Room over 70 guests heard Stephens talk about the development of Spirit of Tradition/Modern Classics. He spoke passionately about the rich heritage of yacht design and production, and highlighted the fact that these boats do not replace classic yachts but instead, complement them.
Diary Note: Marion Bermuda Cruising Race Date Set
The Board of Trustees of the race schedule Friday June 19, 2015 as the date for the 20th biennial Marion Bermuda Race. The Board of Trustees of the Marion to Bermuda Cruising Yacht Race Association (MBCYRA) made the decision as they met at the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club in Bermuda in their post-mortem meeting following the 2013 race. The starting date was announced at the 2013 prizegiving. Commenting on the date, His Excellency the Governor of Bermuda Mr. George Fergusson said he was pleased that the 2015 race would start on June 19th.
