Suntex Acquires Hurricane Marina

Suntex Marina Investors, LLC (Suntex) announced the acquisition of Hurricane Marina, located on Center Hill Lake in Silver Point, Tennessee. With the change in ownership, Hurricane Marina received a new 25-year lease with the United States Army Corps of Engineers and also extended the lease of the existing restaurant tenant, Blue Water Grille. Hurricane Marina lies on a natural, protected harbor approximately 70 miles east of Nashville, and consists of 600 wet slips (48 of which were built in 2015), 40 personal watercraft slips and 25 enclosed boathouse slips.

ABC Draws 35 Industry Organizations as Co-hosts

USCG Rescues 4 from Capsized Vessel

A rescue crew from U.S. Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook, New Jersey saved four people after their 20-foot pleasure craft capsized near the Shrewsbury River Entrance, off of Sea Bright, New Jersey, Sunday. At approximately 3:30 p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook received a distress call from a boat operator, via cell phone, stating his pleasure craft was taking on water and requested assistance near the Shrewsbury River Entrance. The rescue crew from Station Sandy Hook immediately launched aboard their 47-foot motor lifeboat and arrived on scene at 3:50 p.m., as the pleasure craft capsized, causing the four people to enter the water.

Cape May-Lewes Ferry Celebrates 50th

In 1964, Lyndon B. Johnson was President; the Beatles first appeared on the Billboard Chart with I Want to Hold Your Hand; the World's Fair opened in New York and the Cape May-Lewes Ferry made its grand debut. On July 1, 1964, the very first ferry vessel departed the Lewes, Delaware terminal at 6:47 a.m. The ferry carried eight vehicles and 15 passengers. Since then, more than 43 million passengers and over 14 million vehicles have made the scenic, 17- mile, 85-minute trip across Delaware Bay to and from Victorian Cape May, NJ and historic Lewes, Delaware.

Three Sailors Rescued 1,200 miles off Cape Cod

The U.S. Coast Guard coordinated a rescue of three sailors approximately 1,200 miles east of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, at approximately 2 p.m., Thursday. Watchstanders from the 1st Coast Guard District command center in Boston were notified at approximately 6 a.m., Thursday, of a 406MHz emergency position indicating radio beacon signal registered to the 42-foot French-flagged sailing vessel Tao with three men aboard. A Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina, HC-130 Hercules aircraft crew currently deployed to St. John's, Nova Scotia, immediately launched to locate the Tao.

American Boating Congress Draws 36 Co-hosts
