Hapag-Lloyd Cruises to name HANSEATIC inspiration

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises will hold the naming ceremony for its second expedition ship, the HANSEATIC inspiration on October 13, 2019 against the backdrop of the Belgian port city of Antwerp. It will be the first time in the city’s history that an ocean-going cruise ship has been christened in Antwerp. The announcement was made at lunchtime today by the CEO of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, Karl J. Pojer, who spoke to invited representatives of the press and the Deputy Mayor of Antwerp, Koen Kennis. Blohm+Voss has appointed Jean-Gabriel Tridon as General Manager and Dieter Pladeck as Finance Director for its new maintenance and refit facility in La Ciotat in the south of France. The company has filled the two management positions only two weeks after winning the local tender of La Ciotat Shipyards for the setting up of the new site. ‘Europa 2’ made her first appearance in the port of Kiel early on the morning of June 11, 2014. The new Hapag-Lloyd Cruises flagship, arriving from Copenhagen, was greeted in the Kiel Fiord by a water fountain display from a port tug and escorted to her berth at the Ostseekai Cruise Shipping Terminal. During an on-board reception after her arrival, Robert Vollborn, Kiel’s First Deputy City President, welcomed Captain Ulf Wolter to the Schleswig-Holstein state capital and presented him with the Port of Kiel’s commemorative ‘First Call’ plaque.
