Gulfstream Wins DHS Ferry Contract

Gulfstream Shipbuilding won a contract through the United States Department of Homeland Security for a passenger/vehicle ferry to service the New York and Connecticut waters. This 118 x 27 x 10.75 ft. crew boat-style vessel will be capable of transporting passengers, freight and vehicles in and around the waters of the Eastern Long Island Sound and Gardiner’s Bay. Ocean Master Revamps Its 31' Center Console

Ocean Master Marine has significantly upgraded its 31-foot center console sport fishing boat, with design changes to the running bottom for improvements in acceleration, top speed and fuel economy. Additionally, a flat deck becomes an option in the 2017 Tournament Model. Furthermore, two sets of lifting rails were added, a V pad with its own lifting rails and two inset lifting rails aft. These changes have improved the Ocean Master 31's maneuverability, generated greater stability and enhanced performance.

Hemingway Joins Anglers for Upcoming Wahoo Smackdown V

Following in the footsteps of his famous grandfather, author John Hemingway this year has run with the bulls in Pamplona and will be soon fishing the big game grounds off Bimini—the same tiny Bahamas out island where Papa Hemingway chased marlins and tuna aboard his beloved Pilar in the 1930s. In November, John Hemingway will return to Bimini, this time chasing speedy Wahoo as Grand Marshal of the popular Wahoo Smackdown V series, hosted by the historic Bimini Big Game Club Resort and Marina in Alice Town.

Walk-ons Welcome for Weekend Safety at Sea Seminar

Walk-ons are welcome at the 2013 Marion Bermuda Race Safety at Sea Seminar this weekend. Attendance at a U.S. Sailing sanctioned safety seminar is required for a number of crew, skippers and watch captains in the ocean race. But you don’t have to be racing Marion to Bermuda or Marblehead to Halifax or Annapolis to Newport or any other offshore race to need this course. The Seminar is held March 23-24 at the University of Massachusetts/Boston campus. Details and Registration may be found at www.marionbermuda.com.
