Furuno Launches Compact Satellite Compasses

Furuno has introduced two new compact Satellite Compasses.The SCX20 and SCX21 have added Baseline Target Architecture for multipath mitigation, accuracy. The four-antenna array of the SCX20 and SCX21 Satellite Compasses are configured in a manner that creates six unique baselines from which to calculate accurate heading information, even in severe environments.Satellite Compasses traditionally utilize a two- or three-antenna configuration that allows for a single baseline of data, which can present performance challenges on some vessels due to multipath interference caused by signal blockage.

Furuno Debuts New Remote Controller for TZtouch

Furuno’s NavNet TZtouch and TZtouch2 Multi Function Displays have become utilized on a variety of helms and bridges. To enhance the various installations, Furuno announced it has developed the MCU004, a versatile remote control unit that can be used with TZtouch and TZtouch2 units. The MCU004 Remote Control features a large rotary knob and joystick, which can be utilized as the RotoKey on NavNet TZtouch and for zooming in/out on both TZtouch and TZtouch2. In addition, the joystick allows users to pan around the chart and move the cursor on the screen.

Furuno Debuts Solid State Radome with Doppler Tech

Furuno has introduced a compact, Solid-State Marine Navigation Radar that incorporates Doppler technology. The DRS4D-NXT is a Solid-State Radar with pulse compression and Doppler frequency shift sensing technology, built into a compact 24” Radome. This “NXT” (read “next”) generation Radar is designed for use with both NavNet TZtouch and TZtouch2 MFDs. The DRS4D-NXT is packed with new features, including the notable “Target Analyzer”, facilitated by Furuno’s Doppler technology to automatically change the color of targets approaching your boat to clearly show any hazards.

Furuno Offers ‘Spring Break’

Furuno announced it is offering up to $300 back with its Spring Break Rebate.    The Furuno Spring Break Rebate delivers boaters savings on the 1623, 1715 and DRS4W Radars; the FCV627 and FCV587 Fish Finders; and the GP1670F and GP1870F GPS Chart Plotter/Fish Finder combo units. For any one of these units purchased, Furuno will send the buyer a check for $100. Purchase up to three of these products and receive a total of $300.   Purchase any of the qualifying products by June 30, 2015, then submit the completed rebate form along with the original receipt and the UPC label cut from the box. Furuno’s rebate form can be downloaded from its web site.

New Satellite Weather Receiver Launched

Furuno’s new BBWX3 SiriusXM Marine Weather Receiver utilizes SiriusXM’s subscription based marine weather service for live, up-to-date weather forecast information. The BBWX3 connects to the NavNet 3D, TZtouch or TZtouch2 network with an Ethernet cable. Once connected, and the SiriusXM subscription is activated, the user can view weather content on the NavNet screen, including current weather reports, NOWRad Radar images; high-res Sea Surface Temperatures, marine forecasts; storm tracking; buoy reports; wave height forecasts and more.

After 30 years of service to Furuno USA, Inc., Jim Atteridge is retiring as President and assuming a new role, as Director and Corporate Advisor. Effective December 1, 2014, Brad Reents will assume the role of President and CFO of Furuno USA, Inc. Reents has been with Furuno USA for 15 years in the role of Treasurer and Board Member. Reents is a licensed CPA and brings with him years of experience as a financial officer. Prior to Furuno USA, Reents worked at accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers. Los Cabos Billfish Tournament Final Results

Team Reel Gold’s Capt. Javier “Kuubby” Villavicencio struck gold with the only boated marlin in the Los Cabos Billfish Tournamet. The entire six-angler team including Murray Wright, Richard Matson, Mitch Kishimoto, David Patterson, Pat Jackson and Chris Turek flew from its current working residence in Namibia, Africa, during the opening week of the tournament, following Hurricane Odile, to attend the 16th annual event. The owner of Reel Gold Richard Matson has fished the tournament for 10 years and wasn’t going to miss the event.

Furuno Debuts Remote Controller and Software

When Furuno added its Black Box system to their NavNet TZtouch family, it provided flexibility for captains that wanted a TZtouch system on larger displays. Shortly after that, Furuno introduced its new line of Multi-touch Marine Monitors that ranged in size from 17-24 inches. Customers then came back to Furuno requesting the added flexibility of viewing and controlling their TZtouch displays from a remote position. While Furuno offers its free “NavNet Remote” app for the iPad, some customers feel there is no substitute for buttons and tactile control.

Furuno Offers “Colossal NavNet Rebate"

Furuno announced its latest savings event, the “Colossal NavNet Rebate,” to offer boaters substantial savings on every generation of NavNet, including NavNet 3D, TZtouch and vx2 systems. Get $1,500 back on 9” and 14” NavNet TZtouch displays and NavNet 3D Black Box Systems. For 8” and 12” NavNet 3D displays and NavNet TZtouch Black Box, buyers can get $1,000 cash back. Finally, boaters can get $500 back on any NavNet vx2 system. Furuno said it is simple to qualify for these “Colossal” savings.

Furuno Electronic Co., Ltd. announced a new subsidiary in Italy has been established on November 8, 2013 and will commence its business operation from January 1, 2014 onward. In Italy, Arimar S.p.A. has hitherto been handling the marketing and sales activities as well as technical service provision as Furuno’s national distributor. The new subsidiary, Furuno Italy S.r.l. (FIT) will be Furuno’s wholly-owned subsidiary company in Italy whose main task is to further enhance the sales activities as well as technical service provision scheme in the local market…

NavNet TZtouch Software Updates Adds New Features

Last year, Furuno introduced the first multi touch navigation MFD to the market place with NavNet TZtouch. Built on the latest dual-core processor, Furuno’s intention was to periodically refresh TZtouch with new software features, further enhancing the product. The first software update brought us unprecedented FLIR camera integration and sophisticated fuel management tools. Now Furuno has released version 3.01 software for NavNet TZtouch, delivering several new capabilities through tight integration with several peripheral products. One of the most anticipated additions to NavNet TZtouch has been Furuno’s TruEcho CHIRP DFF1-UHD Fish Finder.

FURUNO Accredited Another Training Center

VERITAS Maritime Training Center  in Manila has joined the FURUNO NavSkills network of training centers. Since December 2012, VERITAS MTC has provided FURUNO type specific ECDIS training to navigators under the FURUNO NavSkills training contract. Under the NavSkills agreement VERITAS MTC will accommodate a total of six training workstations: Four ECDIS FEA-2107 workstations and two next generation, state-of-the-art FMD-3200 workstations with three training instructors certified by FURUNO to conduct FURUNO type specific ECDIS training. VERITAS MTC is a part of Epsilon Hellas (Overseas) Ltd. and was established in January 2012.

The DFF1-UHD features TruEcho CHIRP, Furuno’s professional-grade broadband fish finding technology. Designed to operate across a range of frequencies using a CHIRP transducer, the DFF1-UHD delivers improved signal clarity, resolution and target definition, helping to find target species, game fish and bait fish, even when they are tightly schooled together or near the sea floor. Two new features of the DFF1-UHD are Bottom Discrimination and Accu-Fish technologies. Bottom Discrimination Mode provides you detailed graphical information about the make-up of the bottom.
