Maktec Signs On Round-the-world Record Attempt
Team Britannia, the organization behind the latest attempt to set the world-record for sailing around the world in the fastest time, has appointed Yorkshire-based Maktec Marine to provide technical support for its engine fuel and oil performance. Maktec Marine founder Mark Cornforth said the challenge is to beat the current world-record holder New Zealander Pete Bethune’s time of 60 days 23 hours 49 minutes for the 23,000 mile voyage. Leak Detection Kit for Marine Craft
Left undetected, watercraft leaks can disrupt operation and cause equipment breakdown and environmental pollution. Spectroline’s Marine Leak Detection Kit (OPK-400M) is designed to locate fuel, oil and hydraulic leaks in small to medium sized marine craft. Packaged with two distinctly colored fluorescent dyes, it differentiates between multiple leaking fluid systems. To find leaks with the kit, users simply add fluorescent dye to the fluid system, let it circulate, then scan the system with a Spectroline leak detection flashlight to pinpoint leaks.
ECA Marine Fuels: ExxonMobil launches Premium AFME 200
To help shipowners meet strict new emission mandates, ExxonMobil expanded its range of fuels for use within Emission Control Areas (ECA) with the introduction of ExxonMobil Premium Advanced Fuel Marine ECA 200 (AFME 200). The fuel joins ExxonMobil Premium HDME 50 as part of a new category of marine fuel that has emerged as a result of the 2015 ECA sulfur limit of 0.10 percent. These low sulfur fuels help engineers safely and efficiently operate their main and auxiliary engines and boilers.
ExxonMobil: New Marine Fuel Addresses ECA
ExxonMobil Marine Fuels & Lubricants launched a new marine fuel that is designed to help marine operators comply with the 0.10 percent sulfur cap set to be introduced in Emission Control Areas (ECA) beginning January 1, 2015. ExxonMobil Premium Heavy Distillate Marine ECA 50 (HDME 50) is a new category of marine fuel formulated to meet the 2015 ECA sulfur limit and to help marine engineers safely and efficiently operate their engines and boilers. According to the company, ExxonMobil Premium HDME 50 offers performance benefits associated with both marine gas oil (MGO) and heavy fuel oil (HFO).
Carnival Corp. to Invest $400m in Scrubber Technology
