Customized Hybrid Drives Make Waves in Yachting and Passenger Service

Ecologically friendly, customized hybrid drives and ship control systems are gaining popularity with inland-water vessels.Once mostly found powering mega- and superyachts, hybrid drives are now finding their way onto commercial and private yachts from 33’ to 80’. The attraction is due to the hybrid drive’s sustainability. The combination of diesel and electric motors uses less fuel than a strictly gasoline motor without sacrificing performance. For instance, a megayacht that holds…

Hybrid Propulsion for Super Yachts

With hybrid power solutions becoming more of the norm in super yacht circles, RH Marine introduced pre-composed hybrid packages to convert conventional super yachts power systems to battery powered hybrid solutions. The three pre-engineered packages that can be installed onboard an existing yacht during a refit. The three packages vary in size and energy storage from 250 kWh up to 750 kWh, so there’s a package to fit every yachts requirements.Adding batteries as an extra power source allows the generators to run on an optimal load…
