SBIA to Host Asia Boating Dialogue at Singapore Yacht Show

The Singapore Boating Industry Association (SBIA) is organizing a roundtable meeting with key Asian boating industry and public-sector representatives during the Singapore Yacht Show. This event, titled the Asia Boating Dialogue, is strictly invitation-only and will be held on April 12, 2018, from 0900 – 1400 (includes networking lunch). The objective of the Asia Boating Dialogue is to gather Asian boating-interest groups together for an intimate discourse on regional boating and discuss what is needed in terms of a regional agenda to encourage boating development.

MAN to Equip Unique Sailing Vessel

MAN Diesel & Turbo  received an order for an MAN 6L21/31 engine to power a newbuilding cadet training sailing ship for the Defence Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia. The engine will be used to power the 110m ‘Kri Bima Suci’ and up to 200 persons on board when not propelled by sail power. The ship is currently under construction at the Freire Shipyard in Vigo, Spain. MAN Diesel & Turbo has prior experience with sailing ship orders and has previously re-engined the 113-m ‘Esmeralda’, a 4-mast barquentine, for the Chilean Navy.

Peak Shipping Season Is Approaching For United Yacht Transport

Spring is the busiest season for United Yacht Transport, the North American leader in boat transport. The international boat transporters are set to complete various shipments in the upcoming months. In the beginning of the year, the company did an incredible job making a shipment in the Mediterranean region. As a result, they will now be setting sail on more voyages across the globe. Some of the locations United Yacht Transport will be traveling to in the next few months include Italy, Mexico, Canada, Turkey, Spain, and St. Thomas. They look forward to this busy upcoming season and completing more successful shipments across the globe.

US Coast-to-Coast Yacht Delivery Partnership Formed

United Yacht Transport LLC, a Fort Lauderdale-based yacht transport company, has reached an agreement with PACC Container Lines Pte. Ltd. to provide regular yacht transportation service between Port Everglades, FL and multiple West Coast North American Ports. With this backing, United Yacht Transport will provide regularly scheduled sailings from Port Everglades to Costa Rica, Mexico, Canada and Japan aboard a fleet of thirteen, 27,000 DWT multi-purpose ships. PACC currently operates a semi-monthly express liner service between U.S. Gulf and Atlantic Ports and S.E. Asia.

Call for Entries: Safe Affordable Ferry Competition

Registrations are now being accepted for the Worldwide Ferry Safety Association (WFSA)’s annual student competition for the design of safe affordable ferries to serve developing nations. Ferries are to be designed according to specifications of a particular developing and emerging market nation, this year: Bangladesh. The top prize is $5,000 with additional prizes of $3,000 and $1,000, with winners invited to an award ceremony. The registration period closes April 1, 2013.
