Fairline Celebrates First Year Under New Management

British luxury boat manufacturer, Fairline Yachts, is celebrating one year since the all-new management team took over the boatyard. Under the leadership of a highly experienced marine industry management team, the company has employed 227 people, launched two new models (the Targa 53 OPEN and Squadron 53), updated the interior finishes across the 48ft model range, added a hardtop option and new interior to the Squadron 65 and unveiled plans for two highly anticipated and completely new boats.

Mercury Marine Ties-up with Supratechnic

Mercury Marine that it has entered in to an exclusive distribution agreement with Supratechnic Pte Ltd, one of the largest marine distributors in Asia, based out of Singapore. This partnership will allow Mercury to expand and build a regional distribution channel in Southeast Asia that will include all of Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Brunei. "This new relationship will allow Mercury to further penetrate the commercial market in Asia, giving us the opportunity to grow both in product range and territorial expansion," said John Pfeifer, Mercury Marine president.

Norm Kraus has joined the Chris-Craft team as Regional Sales Director. Kraus comes to Chris-Craft with 40 years of industry experience. He started his professional career in the retail sector, working as a technician/sales/sales management/GM at dealerships in the Northern Ohio Market. In addition to his retail experience, Norm has served as a District Sales Manager for Eagle Trailers, and most recently Regional Business Development Manager at Mastercraft Boats, assisting dealer growth in the Northeast and Midwest. Mercury Marine Powers the Pontoon Market

The pontoon market has been the fastest growing boat segment over the past 12 months, having grown by eight percent in 2015 and on pace to match that growth 2016, according to the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA). As boaters around the globe are migrating to higher horsepower engines for their pontoons, Mercury Marine aims to help spur that growth. “It’s really driven by the consumers through our dealer network across the country and Canada,” said John Sweeney, Forest River marketing director.

Chris-Craft Names Hunt VP of Sales

Gavan Hunt has joined the Chris-Craft team as Vice President of Sales. A marine industry veteran, Hunt most recently worked at Cobalt Boats, where held multiple positions throughout  a total of 17 years with the company, including roles as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Director of Dealer Development, and Regional Sales Manager. In addition to Cobalt, Hunt has held similar roles at Chaparral Boats and Nautic Global Group. While in college at the University of Texas, Gavan worked with his friend Darrell Wilson, owner of the Slalom Shop marine dealership in the Dallas area.

Torqeedo Eyes Growth in Asia and Australia

With new partnerships, Torqeedo reports it has opened up new markets in Asia and Australia. Power Equipment Pty Ltd. from Melbourne, on Australia’s southern coast, is the new distributor for all Torqeedo products in Australia and New Zealand. Power Equipment holds a strong market position on the Fifth Continent with own subsidiaries throughout the country and a dealer network including Australia's largest naval store, JV Marine World. Fairline Yachts Rolls First Boat off Production Line

Fairline Yachts announced the first boat manufactured since the formation of the new company will be rolling off the production line on March 3. The boat, a Targa 48 GT, which was bought through Fairline Yachts’ London based dealership, Bates Wharf, is ready for her new owner to enjoy this coming boating season. Fairline Appoints Sales & Marketing Director

Fairline has announced Douglas Culverwell as its new Sales and Marketing Director. Douglas will be responsible for Fairline's global sales and marketing operations, leading Fairline’s international sales team and managing its worldwide dealer network. Douglas brings a wealth of global marine industry knowledge and experience acquired over the last 17 years. Douglas joined Fairline a year ago as Regional Director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Prior to joining Fairline, Douglas worked for boat distributors and manufacturers across the world.

Mercury Adds New Dealers

Mercury Marine signed new dealers spanning almost 20 different states, many in key saltwater markets, from the end of the Miami International Boat Show in late February until the end of June. During that time, Mercury is averaging one new dealer partner every 2.9 days all across the United States. This news comes in time for dealer meeting season and at a time where according to the NMMA, the latest U.S. outboard engine wholesale shipments are up 5.4 percent (R12M YOY) in May. Four-stroke outboard engines are also up 9.4 percent (R12M YOY).
