Neff Named Boston Whaler President

Brunswick Corporation announced Kris Neff has been named President, Boston Whaler and Nick Stickler has been appointed Vice President of Category Management and Strategic Planning at Mercury Marine. Both announcements are effective immediately.Neff joined Brunswick in 2005 and over the past 16 years, has held a variety of roles of increasing responsibility across many divisions. Most recently, he was the Vice President of Category Management and Strategic Planning at Mercury Marine.

‘Assisted Docking’ System for Outboards

A revolutionary “assisted docking” system that provides a glimpse into the future of boating will be demonstrated at two upcoming events by Mercury Marine and Raymarine aboard a Boston Whaler Outrage. The first event will take place at Mercury’s famed Lake X test center and another demonstration to take place at the 2019 Miami International Boat Show. MarineMax Acquires Boston Area Marina

MarineMax has expanded its presence in the Northeast by acquiring the Boston area Bay Pointe Marina located on the Town River in Quincy, Mass.“Bay Pointe Marina is a well-established, full service, 11-acre site with 247 wet slips, 50-ton Travelift, for boats to 65 feet, and capacity for 300 winter storage boats,” stated Alex Russo, MarineMax General Manager. A 300-seat restaurant, known as Bay Pointe Waterfront, is also located on-site.“MarineMax will be relocating from its current home in Dorchester by October 1, 2018,” said Larry Russo, Jr. MarineMax Northeast Regional President.

Mercury Marine Donates Boats, Engines to Harvey Relief Effort

Mercury Marine, in an effort to help in the recovery mission in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, said it has donated multiple boats and engines to the affected areas. This week, Mercury deployed 30, 6hp outboard engines as well as 10 inflatable boats to be sent to the command center in Texas. In addition, the company donated a 40hp outboard engine to Boots on the Ground, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering veterans and qualified civilians to provide in-field emergency and primary medical care. The state command center in Texas has also identified the scarcity of life jackets.

All Set for Newport International Boat Show

Scheduled for September 15 to 18, 2016, this year’s Newport International Boat Show has a record number of exhibitors and offers more educational activities and attractions for showers than ever. MarineMax to Debut Sea Pro Models in Tampa Bay

Sunken 48-foot Sports Fisher Vessel Salvaged

The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) monitored the salvage of the sunken  Bigbi Thursday, two miles north of Little Creek, Va. The Bigbi sank at approximately 5:40 a.m., Saturday. The four-man crew of the Bigbi activated their emergency personal indicating radio beacon, donned lifejackets and survival suits, abandoned their boat and boarded a 12-foot Boston whaler, where they were assisted by a good Samaritan. A Coast Guard 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Little Creek met with the good Samaritan and transported the four boaters to shore.
