Hall of Fame Marina gets new docks

Hall of Fame Marina in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. is expanding with new, concrete floating docks. With the permitting phase complete, dock renovation with Bellingham Marine will commence this summer, with construction completed in fall, to accommodate Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) 2019. As Hall of Fame provides dockage for FLIBS, the Westrec marina anticipates hosting more superyachts up to 160-feet.The new piers will be 150-feet in length. The footprint is changing with about 600-feet of concrete floating docks replacing 400-feet of wooden docks.

Marina del Rey BoatYard Expands Operations

Bellingham Marine collaborates with The BoatYard Marina del Rey to expand service offerings for boats in Southern California. Big boats mean big money. They also mean big equipment when it comes to repairs. Large vessels often have trouble finding boatyards in Southern California that are capable of servicing them, until now.Boat owners in the region have a new option with the installation of a 100-ton travel lift pier at the The BoatYard at Marina del Rey. The new Marine Travelift has opened up The BoatYard to a much larger market.

Bellingham Marine Opens Plant in Fiji

The island nation of Fiji is thriving in its seventh straight year of economic growth. From textiles to sugar, one of Fiji’s fastest growing sectors is manufacturing. The country has now expanded into pontoon manufacturing with the announcement of the partnership between Bellingham Marine and Marine Structures and Consultancy (MSC) Limited. Two of the country’s best-known marine service operators, Hall Dredging and Bob Oldham, recently took control of MSC. Both have worked on Bellingham projects over the years and maintain an excellent working relationship with Bellingham Marine New Zealand (BMNZ).

AMI Presents Board of Directors at IMBC

The Association of Marina Industries (AMI) elected its 2017 officers and directors at its annual International Marina & Boatyard Conference (IMBC) held January 25-27, 2017 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Brad Gross, Certified Marina Manager (CMM) was reappointed Chair; Joe Riley, CMM of Windmill Marina Association, Inc. was reappointed Vice Chair; Chris Petty of Suntex Waterfront Management was reappointed Treasurer; and Chris Dolan of Marina Electrical Equipment, Inc. was appointed Secretary. This year, AMI welcomes one new member elected to the 2017 Board of Directors for a three-year term, Jason Johnson of Marine Travelift, Inc.

Bellingham Marine Completes Blu Harbor Marina

Bellingham Marine was contracted by The PAULS Corporation, a private development group based in Denver, to engineer, design and manufacture a new concrete floating dock system for the Blu Harbor community development in Redwood City, Calif. The project consisted of the removal of the outdated marina and the engineering and erection of a new concrete floating dock system. The new development includes a 64-slip marina, 402 apartments, a human powered watercraft launch dock and a saltwater pool.

Multimillion Dollar Improvements at Ocean Reef Club

Over the past four years, private dock owners at the exclusive Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Florida have been replacing their fixed concrete piers with modern concrete floating docks. “It’s a decision that has proven to have a huge return for the club’s dock owners,” remarked Keith Miller, President of Ocean Reef Club’s Marina Village Condominium Association. Ocean Reef’s new docks reflect the latest in floating dock technology. Fully encased concrete floats, rounded finger ends, composite trim, telescoping pile and underwater lights are just a few of the features.

AMI Elects Board Directors

This year, five new members were elected to the 2016 Board of Directors for a three-year term.

Burton Chace Park Renovates Transient Docks

Burton Chace Park, one of Los Angeles’ best kept secrets; is tucked away in Marina del Rey near Los Angeles, California. Surrounded on three sides by water, the park offers spectacular views of the surrounding area and transient moorage for visiting boaters. Park supervisor, Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors, was approved in 2012 for a $1.3 million National Boating Infrastructure Grant to fund an improvement project. The Project would include a major renovation of the park’s marina and related infrastructure.

Marinas, Moorings and More at SCIBS

At the 2014 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS), docking systems of all kinds will be on show – from massive marina systems to personal pens for PWCs, all displaying high-tech and ingenious solutions. The big names and the emerging players will have displays, demonstrations and launches at SCIBS. One of the  largest pontoon manufacturers in Australia, Jetty Specialists, will be at SCIBS in Pavilion A, not showing their products so much as their credentials. For 28 years…

Bellingham Marine Appoints New GM

Marina builder and dock manufacturer Bellingham Marine recently named Michael LaRocque General Manager of the company’s Northeast Division. LaRocque will be responsible for the day to day operations of the division including project administration, detailed scheduling of manufacture and construction activities, and budgeting. A veteran of the construction industry with a background in civil engineering, LaRocque has over 20 years’ experience, holding a number of varied positions in the civil engineering and construction management trades.

Pelican Marina Reconstruction Nears Completion

In 2008, Hurricane Ike tore through the Gulf Coast of the U.S., hitting hard the towns along Texas’ coast and leaving a number of the area’s marinas in disrepair. Over the past several years, many of the marinas affected by Ike have been rebuilt – Pelican Rest Marina located in Galveston, Texas, is the latest to complete new construction. From the beginning, the vision of the owner for Pelican Rest Marina was clear; build a high-end marina catering to 60 foot and larger class sport fishing yachts as part of a mixed-use upscale complex.

Marina In San Francisco Upgrades Docks

Located in the heart of San Mateo County, Oyster Point Marina, offers San Francisco boaters direct access to the bay. The City owned marina recently completed replacement of piers 8 and 11. Bellingham Marine, world renowned marina builder, was contracted to perform as the general contractor. Oyster Point’s existing 20 plus year old glu-lam, timber system was replaced with Bellingham Marine’s concrete floating docks fitted with upgraded utilities and accessories. Upgrades were made to the marina to provide improved moorage for boaters in the San Francisco Bay area.
