Hakim Wins Feadship Young Designer Award

Pradipta R. Hakim of Indonesia captured the 2024 Young Designer of the Year (YDOY) Award with his concept yacht Blueminance. This is Feadship’s first time as the official sponsor of YDOY, a program that fosters creativity and excellence within the yacht design community. The award was announced as part of the Boat International Design & Innovation Awards event in Kitzbühel, Austria.The award is recognized as a platform for young, aspiring designers to showcase their skills and gain recognition within the superyacht industry.

Refit River Cruiser Sets Sail for Crystal

The newly renovated vessel Mozart, which began passenger service in July 2016, marks Crystal Cruises’ first venture into European river cruising. Before for the revitalized river cruiser Mozart set sail, Crystal Cruises contracted R&M Sea Level Marine to completely renovate all the vessel’s cabins, suites and the reception lobby. The refit took place from April 24 to July 6 in Linz, Austria. Designed by II BY IV Design of Toronto, renovations included completely redesigned accommodations with all new bathrooms and complete renewal of all furniture and finishes.

FIPOFIX Making Second Transatlantic Crossing

The extreme sailor Sedlacek passed the Bermuda’s. Already 1,200 nautical miles in the wake of the FIPOFIX. Departing on May 16, 2014 at 17:40 MESZ from West Palm Beach (U.S.) for the second crossing race to Les Sables d’Olonne (France), the extreme sailor Harald Sedlacek and his only 4.9 meter short volcanic prototype FIPOFIX reached on Sunday evening the north of the Bermuda’s. The second record crossing race which brings the extreme sailor back to Europe, is going until now without any technical problems.

High Performance Dinghy Wins Design Award

The TIWAL 3.2, a high performance inflatable sailing dinghy has won the Red Dot: Best of the Best Award 2014 for its groundbreaking design. The product was amongst 4,815 entries in one of the world’s largest and most renowned product competitions. The 40-member expert jury judged thousands of products from 53 countries, over several days; the TIWAL 3.2 secured the highest distinction in product design, the Red Dot: Best of the Best. This ceremony will be held on 7th July 2014, in front of 1,200 guests at the Aalto-Theater in Essen, Germany.

Lewmar Standard Fit on New Sunbeam Yachts

UK's Lewmar has been selected as the supplier of deck equipment to the new Sunbeam 28.1, launched at Tulln Boat Show, Austria. The 28.1 represents the first new boat partnership between the two companies and is partly down to Lewmar's unique position of being able to supply boatbuilders with almost every component they need; simplifying design processes and purchasing operations. The 28.1 is fitted with black EVO winches, black Synchro and HTX blocks together with size 0 traveller systems. In addition, Lewmar's custom bent flush hatch will be fitted to the front of the coachroof.
