Four men forced to abandon their sinking motor yacht have been rescued approximately 25 nautical miles northwest of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, the US. The Coast Guard and Palm Beach Sheriff's Office is searching for three people aboard a boat taking on water near Lake Worth Beach Tuesday. At approximately, 2:07 a.m., the three people aboard the boat notified Coast Guard Sector Miami watchstanders via VHF-FM channel 16 marine band radio they were taking on water. The watchstanders directed the launch of Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and a Station Miami 45-foot Response Boat—Medium boatcrew along with PBSO to assist.

The U.S. Coast Guard rescued two people from a 35-foot sailing vessel taking on water due to sea conditions Monday in the vicinity of West End, Bahamas. Watchstanders with Coast Guard 7th District Command Center received a call from a good Samaritan who reported three people aboard a sailing vessel in distress due to sea conditions. The watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew to assist. The helicopter crew arrived on scene, hoisted two of the three people and safely transferred them to Freeport, Bahamas.

A good Samaritan sailing vessel rescued six people from a sinking sailing vessel early Monday 14 miles west north west of Hog Cay, Bahamas. Watchstanders with the Coast Guard 7th District Command Center received a 406 megahertz personal locator beacon distress alert and the Halifax Joint Rescue Coordination Centre received a report from the sailing vessel Serenity, within the same area as the PLB alert, stating they were taking on water and abandoning ship. The Serenity crew stated they had two adults, four children and two dogs aboard. The watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Miami HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew to search.

A man was rescued from a sinking 31-foot vessel that was taking on water 10 nautical miles north of Grand Bahama, Bahamas, Wednesday. Coast Guard District 7 watchstanders received a report of an activated EPIRB at about 10 a.m., Wednesday. They diverted an Air Station Clearwater, Florida, MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew deployed to the Bahamas that was in the area. The aircrew arrived on scene, hoisted the man and transported him to Freeport, Bahamas. No medical concerns were reported.

A U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) helicopter crew rescued four sports fishermen from a platform after their vessel sank about 41 miles east of Venice, La., Tuesday. Watchstanders at the 8th Coast Guard District received a call from one of the sports fishermen stating their vessel sank and they were on a platform. The watchstanders directed the launch of two Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crews. The rescue crew arrived on scene at about 3:30 p.m., and hoisted the four fishermen. The helicopter crew flew the fishermen to the air station with no reported injuries.
Busy Start to U.S. National Safe Boating Week
At 5 p.m., the captain of the Lucky Isabella reported the death of a crewmember who had fallen overboard. They were able to recover the man, but were unable to save him. The man was reportedly not wearing a lifejacket. A medical examiner and Coast Guard investigator met them as they returned to port. Earlier, at 3:30 p.m., a Station Sabine boatcrew responded to a 36-foot sailboat taking on water in the vicinity of the Martin Luther King Bridge in Port Arthur. The boatcrew arrived on scene and assisted in dewatering the sailboat, then towed it back to a haul-out facility.

The U.S. Coast Guard coordinated a rescue of three sailors approximately 1,200 miles east of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, at approximately 2 p.m., Thursday. Watchstanders from the 1st Coast Guard District command center in Boston were notified at approximately 6 a.m., Thursday, of a 406MHz emergency position indicating radio beacon signal registered to the 42-foot French-flagged sailing vessel Tao with three men aboard. A Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina, HC-130 Hercules aircraft crew currently deployed to St. John's, Nova Scotia, immediately launched to locate the Tao.
Body of Missing Boater Found in Lake Michigan
The search for a missing man in Lake Michigan ended Tuesday afternoon as search crews from the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police located the body of the man on the shore of Lake Michigan in northern Muskegon County, the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) said in a press announcement this afternoon. The search commenced Monday night after a watchstander at Coast Guard Station Ludington, Michigan, received a phone call from the man’s friend reporting that the man had not reached his destination. The missing man left Whitehall Marina in Whitehall, Michigan, at 1 p.m.
